Playoff chase

meh. I think strength of schedule is a bit overstated in the long term considering the ups and downs all teams go through during the course of an 82 game season. A lot can happen between now and april
Road vs Home split is more important imo. Unfortunately we have a lot of road games left.

Wings basically need to go out and sweep a road trip to prove that this isn't going to be an issue.

I think we have 10 wins vs bad teams and 7 vs good ones.
11 losses to good teams and 7 to bad ones.
This was a bit fast going through the schedule so I might be wrong.

That's difficult to gage to be honest. Like do you consider Nyr a good team? Because they were when we faced them, what about Montreal? They were on a tear when we lost to them. Is CBJ a good team? They're a wild card team right now and they've been red hot like us when we faced them. Of course teams like Toronto, la, Edmonton, Tampa can all be considered good to elite, but some of it is subjective to the time of year that we played them.

Ottawa wins again...so did Tampa

Montreal and Boston lost
Add Columbus to the win column too. But we're two points back and we've leap frogged most teams. I can smell the playoffs already

Last year we got 20 points in January much to newseys disbelief. This year we got 21, and that's without Perron telling them they have to. And Todd's reaction, well we just gotta keep playing our game. These are talented young guys and they're capable (I'm paraphrasing of course)

What a huge difference he's been honestly.

Like I'm more excited for this team than I've been in a very long time. I probably won't be able to sleep tonight so I'll just keep spamming the boards.

17 games under McLellan, 25 points. = .735 record.

51 games played, 55 points in the bank.

31 games left, .735 record = will end up to 45,6 extra points.
= 55p + 46p extra = 101 total points.

For comparison, 41 points at last 31 games would be 96 total points (pretty sure a playoff spot), and we need .661 record for that on last 31 games.

It's a rough schedule and a lot can still happen. I could see Detroit finishing as high as 97-98 points or as low as 80 points.

But as long as it's with the kids doing the heavy lifting and a trade deadline that makes sense, I'm here for it.

Didnt think we'd make the playoffs and still dont but its impressive what's going on. Was pushing for kasper to play with Larkin and raymond or 2c when lalonde was here and it never happened. Hes finally showing some fans who didnt believe in him how wrong they were

Soderblom finally gets the call up I been wanting for so long and looks like hes here to stay. The biggest reason I didnt think we had what it would take to make the playoffs was our defense.

Still think we need to make changes but I'm glad with Johansson. 5pts last 11 now playing 20+minutes a game and looking like a piece of the future

I think we need to make moves to prepare for the future

It's going to be a grind, with so many teams in the chase. The best sign right now is this team expects to win every night.

Last two games, fell behind 2-0 and the second goal in each was silly stupidity mostly. Didn't matter, both games the team just sacked up and got a win against quality opponents.

Keep that mentality going and lose the gift goals against please.

Would be so nice to get a really solid LH shot partner for Mo, that way it moves chiarot down to 3rd pair. Ed-albert have been very good. Petterson from Pitt would be a nice fit imo

petterson- Seider
Ed-Albert
Chiarot- whoever of the others (ASP late in the year???)

Can we just speak this into existence? I'll take the "Provorov Technique" pioneered by @Frk It ...

if the senators and lightning lose saturday and we win saturday and sunday, we'll be third in the atlantic

Lmao , I think we can forget about provorov. His brother is playing in Columbus area next season so Im sure he'll resign there

i'm just out here speaking facts. isn't that what all the haters call 'being a realist?'
Oh I'm in agreement with you. Moreso just trying to keep the excitement in check and force myself to stay patient with the season.

Otherwise I'll wind up on the trade board like a bull in a china shop, demanding Robert Thomas and Charlie McAvoy for a fist full of draft picks.
