So I posted a bunch of new avatars only to realize that I forgot to retime it like everyone was suggesting. In the meantime...
Putting these together gets pretty hectic once the requests start coming in, so if anyone wants to help out, please let me know and I can send you the photoshop file and I'll write notes below. RonSwanson has already volunteered to help. For anyone who wants to start, I stopped at post #99 on page 4, because BigKing has a ton of good ideas.
Technical stuff for those who want to help:
The file is exact resolution, 125x125px so there's no scaling involved. To make it easier, I'll just send you the 125x125 photoshop file and keep the 150x150 to do the larger ones myself.
When one is ready, I use 'save for web' when making a gif. I start with the 128 dithered preset, and then slide the lossy up to about 20-22 until the size gets to about 19.6 to 19.7 kb. I've found that if I go any higher than 19.7, it sometimes ends up saving at higher than 20 for some reason. (Also remember to check that it loops 'forever' instead of 'once'!)
The typeface/font is Eurostile, so you will have to get that for it to look right, or it will try to replace the fonts and mess everything up. Also I may need to know what version of photoshop you're using if it's lower than CS4, so that I can save down to that version.
As far as the frames, I add and scale a picture, and then play around with the color overlays to make it look like the LAKings twitter pictures. The locked layers should stay locked. Then obviously I change the name and number.
For the Cup frame, there are three layers to choose from (one line hashtag, two line hashtag, and three line hashtag) depending on how much needs to be typed. Every word starts with a capital to visually separate words, but also to imitate the Stanley Cup engravings which do the same.
