Kapanen for Schneider would be a start of something to discuss although Rangers need young d 20 21 22 AHL with NHL potential or center depth, can Kapanen play center long term?. Dach way too injury prone. Could have kept Chytil if they wanted an injury prone player.
kapanen’s floor is a 3c . you could take engstrom or struble . definitely needs to be a pick / player coming back . half decent to .

McMichael and Cristall are the line for established young player and prospect. Everyone clearly worse them is tradable and everyone better them is untouchable. Both will solid top 6ers for the next decade+. Do we run young and hang on to both? Package both and a first for say Robertson? Juist don't move one and a first for a lateral dumpster dive pls.

If the Kings opt to keep both Kuemper and Forsberg, Portillo. He is no longer waiver exempt.
No, Portillo has one more year of waivers exemption, and then needs waivers to go down starting in the fall in 2027. Kuemper and Forsberg are free agents next summer, so it all lines up nicely.

SEPTEMBER 2027
starter/1A = UFA (Kuemper? Forsberg? other?)
backup/1B = Portillo

You’re right. Kings pundit John Hoven mentioned that he would have to pass through waivers this offseason. So, in that case, never mind…

Lafreniere. Great musicians have written blues songs about women who didn't do them wrong half as many times as Laf has left the Rangers hanging when they needed him.
Laf is a great shout.

19 goals as a sophomore, every single one even strength. Also has a season with 26 of 28 goals ES. Guy has what it takes clearly but I really don't see him getting in done in NY. Can absolutely see him popping off with a different team.

Rangers are damned if they do, damned if they don't with that guy I feel.

For the Bruins, it's Lohrei, Poitras, and DiPietro for me.

Lohrei because he has flashed serious upside at the NHL level and to me it feels like he could easily break out overnight in the right system. It could just be he's forever a third pairing guy though.

Poitras really looked to have turned a corner but only got a brief shot to show it last year, I worry he might break out with another team if we don't give him a real shot this year. He's not likely to ever get to the 2C I thought he could be a couple years ago, but I think there's an NHLer in there in a bottom six role, and probably at center as well.

As for DiPietro, it's because the Bruins consistently develop goalies really well. There's the obvious Thomas-Rask-Swayman pipeline, but look at Vladar who became an NHL goalie after leaving the Bruins system with Calgary and did really well for the Flyers last year, Bussi was the goaltender in the Stanley Cup finals for the Hurricanes, Linus Ullmark got better here (although his time in Ottawa has been uneven), Korpisalo has looked like a passable backup here. Not to mention one of the funniest/most painful, St. Louis loaned Binnington to Providence, he had a breakout season there, and would end up getting called up the following year in St. Louis and be the goaltender winning a Stanley Cup against Boston. There's exceptions, obviously, but still there is a lot of success in taking a goalie from Boston. Meanwhile DiPietro has been one of the most successful AHL goalies in recent memory, winning back to back Baz awards, including winning the Les Cunningham award this year. He is on the smaller side, so maybe it doesn't pan out, but our track record makes me worry if we lose him.

Dawson Mercer and Simon Nemec.

Mercer is a shot of confidence away

Nemec may never live up to #2oa but vision, ability to get his shot through and a clutch player on a team with no clutch players except Jack Hughes

14 th overall pick Rossen for Stanley at the deadline.

Change of scenery / better opportunity / fresh start / good training camp in Winnipeg will make all the difference this year.

2027 Buffalo 2 nd that was part of the trade will also lead to Jets selecting a defensemen that turns out better than Stanley !

Trocheck and Schneider because both will be in the finals or both will win the cup next season if dealt lmfao

Why should it matter???

First, they won't win it here anyway, so there might as well win somewhere else...

Second, even if their win, their new team wins in spite of them, not because of them...

William Eklund. Many Sharks fans would agree he is the most expendable piece to try to get a defenseman but I think he has another notch to his game. He’s played on some bad teams and has been awful in the plus minus category. Seems to be a guy who gets tougher matchups. I don’t think he’ll ever score more than 25 goals but I could see 70-80 point season in his future
