We were right there
This is a board with Andys, Kurrilino, and Sol posting regularly and you pick on this as "one of the craziest things" you've seen and "Absolute insanity"? OK.
Durzi's GA/60 at even strength up until Doughty injury 3/7 (40 games): 3.0
That wasn't good even before Doughty went down. Basically the worst on D. He was bringing offense while playing bottom pairing, so... acceptable.
Durzi's GA/60 at even strength after Doughty injury (14 games): 4.1
Not only that, but his offense has completely dried up (GF/60 at ES of 1.1). Right now he's completely overwhelmed.
I'm not punishing Durzi for drowning in tough minutes. He was an okay bottom pairing 2nd PP specialist before Doughty went down. That doesn't scream untradeable core to me. Do I want him traded? No. He's fun to watch. I'm just okay with it if it happens. Spence is as good if not better. So is Walker when he recovers. There's not enough room for them all, so someone will have to go.
Sure, someone will have to go...eventually.
How about we wait and see if/when any of them are actually pros before we start trying to trade the guy admirably filling minutes right now and pretending he's doing nothing for us?
I also wasn't even referencing you directly but if the shoe fits, I guess
Edit: and yes it IS insanity watching people trying to trade our current #1 dman playing 26-28 minutes a night, no one is under any delusion that he's stout defensively, you're trying to prove something everyone already knows, but his NHL readiness for a role NOT in Drew Doughty's shoes? He's good to go and we have a Voynov-slot dman who can run a pairing for the first time in a half decade and here people are trying to jettison him for new toys that aren't even on the scene yet.
WE have no shortage of defensive guys. We have always had a shortage of offensive 'specialists'. much less those with the trust of the coach and the moxie to take the game by its balls. let this thing play out before we 'replace' Durzi.
