Boeser was named an alternate captain at North Dakota for the 2016-2017 season. He's the first underclassmen to wear a letter since some guy named Jonathan Toews wore a letter as a sophomore at UND.

Nice! But didn't Schmatlz wear the A on occasion too, last year?

I can't recall for sure. He might've. UND had five players wear an "A" last season, Schmaltz might've wore it if one of them were out? But I do know that I should've put that Boeser is the first sophomore to wear a letter full-time since Jonathan Toews.:D

More great news for Boeser! Can't wait to see what's in store for him this year.

Tyson Jost is in store from him this year.

Expect a big jump in Boeser's assist numbers and ratio, with possibly fewer goals. Jost is more of a pure goal scorer than Schmaltz was.

It will be a deadly duo, and it's all good for Boeser's development.

What will Brock Boeser do after 2016-17?

Some quotes to stir up speculation. None suggests any concrete action is planned, though hints have been tossed our way, from Trevor Linden and Brock himself.

If everything goes as planned, there's a good chance, but you never know, so I'll just take it day by day.

pretty sure brock will be on the nucks the year after next (17/18)

Unless there is a significant injury (Canuck prospect after all), I think that this is the safe bet at this point.

With the likely additions of Juolevi, Boeser, and perhaps Demko, it should at least give us fans something to look forward to in 17/18 even if the team struggles this season. Assuming they aren't traded before then.

Only thing keeping me going as a fan at this point.

I agree with you guys above.

Olli, Brock, Demko

Three prospects that should be making the jump at the same time... all have top potential. top pairing D, top line RW, no. 1 goalie. If the Canucks have a really poor year, then you throw another top5 player into the mix....if the lottery goes well and its a top 3 pick then you have a player that's probably NHL ready. That's top end players being added to Horvat, Sven.B, Boeser, Virtanen etc.

Demko? I'd be surprised to see him here next season. Two years in the AHL would be just fine.

If the Canucks are out of it down the stretch I could see Boeser being signed after his UND season is done and playing some games in the NHL; and could also see Demko called up, at least in a backup role, given Miller's injury history and the fact he's on an expiring contract...why not?

So your plan is to clone Boeser? :sarcasm:

Looks legit. Anyways when you draw it like that, Benning has done quite a good job in restocking our prospects the past 2 years.
Eh... Horvat was already here. There's two top 6 picks in that list. Demko was a good but not off the board pick, same with Boeser. Baertschi was a good pickup but you are conveniently ignoring the prospects that are now gone thanks to Benning.

Notably, Shinkaruk and Forsling. Granlund might turn out to be something but Clendenning is already gone. Those two deals are just terrifying.

This team would look a lot better going forward if it still had Shinkaruk, McCann, and Forsling.

Edit: Boeser thread, I should stop there.

Boeser and Jost combo will destroy next season.

You do know Benning is who picked Forsling and McCann right? Also do you only get credit for picks that are out of left field. Even if that is so Boeser McCann Demko Tryamkin Forsling seem like very good picks that are progressing. Unlike picks like Gaunce Jensen and Shinkaruk until last year. Anyways hope Brock keeps progressing though he should not be our number one prospect as OJ was 5 th overall and dominated world juniors not 23 and a so so world jr member. But glad to see optimism.

I was originally hoping Lemieux would fall but Demko seemed the best available bar none after. Looks good so far. Not to mention the Flamosos took MacDonald just before. :handclap:

Oops I meant to reply to you in post above. You are ignoring that Benning drafted Forsling and McCann before trading them. The 2014 draft first 5 picks are trending to be nhl players though 2 on other teams. Like I posted elsewhere it is very possible that 6 of 8 players Benning has drafted in the first 3 rounds are nhl players Brisbois and Lockwood are too early to tell but Virtanen McCann Demko Tramkin Boeser and OJ seem like almost sure things to be solid NHl players. that is not common. Even by trading 2 drafted players and many other draft picks Jake Oj Demko Tryamkin Boeser is still a pretty good haul for 3 drafts not counting some others who are trending up.
