I wonder how much he thinks it would cost to sign Ferland, Edler, and Stralman, because it sure as hell won't be cheap.

Each one 3-4 years at around 4-6 million . If you exclude Quick , Lewis , Forbort , buyout Phaneuf we have more than enough cap space to make it work. Then Kovy and Carter will be off the books one way or another while the youth transitions . Idk we can stay competitive I think it’s doabke and they’re character guys. Leadership which we lack now

I like the players you have in mind, I just think it's not possible for the team in its current state to pull this off, mostly due to the impossible task of getting out of some bad contracts.

From what Jon Rosen posted today, I'm not hopeful of Los Angeles being a preferred destination for free agents.

Both are AHL'ers that shouldn't be on the roster.

Maybe not but they're essentially 'bridge' players at this point anyway without having to sign UFAs. They're old enough that you have to see what you have and you're not going to wreck their development. Yet young enough that they're still cheap by default. Might as well see what you have and maybe you can sling one like we did Fantenberg (LOL HOW).

Just so I understand how this works, Blake had a 98 point team last season...is that to his credit or Lombardi's?

More Lombardi. As would be the 0-4 record in the playoffs. That was mostly a roster built by Lombardi, with a surprising season from Kopitar, a huge bounce back from Brown, and a couple of the other core guys having a good run.

Blake still hasn't put his own stamp on the team. The only realistic way to do that, right now, is probably through the draft. Then again, most of the scouts, still holdovers from Lombardi. Although if Blake is drafting different kinds of players, that's using the scouts differently in some way.

Roslovic and Puljujarvi want out of Winnipeg and Edmonton respectively. They would fit in with the age and style the Kings are moving towards. Blake should be calling up their GMs everyday.

I'd wonder if either club would be interested in something around Martinez in return.

I would take either. Both seem to need a fresh start, especially Puljujarvi.

I have to wonder why everyone seems to be throwing Martinez in every trade proposal this summer ? I get maybe hes the only thing we have would alot of value however without him Forbort becomes our 2nd best defense man Think about that people Derek Fn Forbort. Sorry not really directed at u Kovacro its more in General We need him till the deadline to show the kids coming in the ropes and play more minutes than he probably should because hes better suited then anyone else we have

No worries my friend. For me, I just figure he would be one of the guys of most interest to other clubs based off his resume and playoff experience.

You could always trade him and pick up a UFA defensemen on a 1-year, maybe 2-year deal and if he does well, maybe flip him at this or the next deadline.

You answered your own question. Martinez has value and no NTC.

I guess I would rather get picks at the deadline if he has to go. The 2020 is supposed to be a better draft then this one ( at least that I have read) and more pics next draft would be something I would be trying for over young player that need a change of scenery but that just from my view of it
Also i don't really see anyone out there that can replace Martinez willing to sign for 2 years if that makes sense

So u would want Derek Forbort as your 2nd best defense man? Lord I hope not. Trading Martinez without anyone to replace him would make our defense situation the worse in team history. 17 we hardly ever agree but how can u think this would be a good idea We are over loaded at forward . Neither player is going into our top 6 and we have more then bottom forward to plug in the spots we have. I agree we trade him but deadline material not draft material trade. The draft stuff we need to get rid of is Carter and Quick and Dion this has to go Alec is the nice piece we keep till deadline and max value him.

No, I don't like Forbort as the #2D, and I am okay with Blake hanging onto Martinez until the next trading deadline if the price isn't right this off season, especially if Blake thinks he can get a better asset in a deeper 2020 draft pick. However, there is something to be said for the time value of an asset in the case of Martinez. How he holds up next year is a risk. His play could slip, or he could suffer an injury. I would like to see the Kings get something in return for him.

You can't be sure which team would be the trading partner at the draft. Maybe the opposing GM Blake is dealing with has a defenseman that is a suitable replacement in the short term, and Martinez is an upgrade for his team for next season. There are a lot of ways this could play out. We do know where the Kings finished with Martinez on the roster last season, they can do that again this coming season without him and it doesn't matter for the long term health of the roster.

Okay it sounds like we are on the same page I personally think if he has a decent year we can get a 1st and maybe a prospect for him. Defense that can play both sides have more value then u think. Yes there is risk that his play goes down or he gets injury but i would rather hold on to him till deadline then send him away for "a young forward with potential" who is really is a bottom 6 player. We have the bottom 6 covered i would think with grunderson kempe wagner luff lewis clifford iafallo amadio Assuming u have kovy prohorkins toffoli Kopitar Carter Brown in top 6 with the hope of getting rid of carter or toffoli and having a kid making the team (whoever)

I tend to favor a "fresh" asset as well in return for Martinez. By "fresh" I mean a player that has already been drafted who isn't a pro yet, or a 1st round pick in either this year's draft, or the 2020 draft. If Blake could get either of those two assets in return for Martinez it wouldn't matter the position the player plays to me, as we don't know what the roster looks like in a couple of seasons. I would hope Blake is shopping Martinez and will trade him for the BAA (best asset available).

Well we can also agree there except I wouldn't be shopping him till December lay your ground work sure let people know what your looking for 1st + + but don't pull the trigger till u see u have someone ready to take more mins in house. There are a ton of people that can possibly do it but there needs to be a replacement ready first. Like the JJ trade we had slava ready to step in. Same sorta thing . I don't want forbort as 2 at any cost.

I am fine if the player who steps in is a journeyman UFA, or even if it is Brickley or some other college FA Blake signs. The Kings aren't going to be good next season, and Martinez' short term replacement just has to be serviceable.

I hope Blake makes some major moves at the draft so the fans get an idea what direction this team is heading. It's been a long time since Kings fans have argued what the LA Kings are. This summer we will find out what kind of GM Rob Blake is.

What ufa defense man is coming here seriously I doubt we get anyone better then Forbort to come here short term. As far as Brickley goes I want to see him play and prove hes not a disaster in nhl before i get rid of Martinez which means no draft day trade of him as far as I am concern.
