I thought Rhydal looked really good tonight. Imo fourth line should be Goodrow - Rhydal - Vesey/Hunt/Reaves.

Schneider was much improved and Jones had a nice game imo.

Krav really needs a confidence builder of a game to get it going. Was hoping tonight with Panarin would be that but he didn’t contribute much.

Oh and Halak was really good.

If Panarin attacks the middle of the ice, like he said he would and needs to... it's easily another MVP type season for him.

You can tell the difference in his game, right away, with no Strome.

If Reaves was going to be gone, they would’ve signed Motte in the off-season.

Problem with Gauthier is he doesn’t seem to improve where he’s actually lacking. He’s pretty much always been able to get it on net with possession but he doesn’t have the hands to finish in tight like that. He’s got to get that to he an NHL player imo.

Yeah, he doesn't have much touch around the net. That said, the thing he needs to be an NHL player is all the rest of his game. He needs to prove he can be solid in his own end. Make a good outlet pass. Be a strong forechecker. Be a relentless forechecker. Basically, he needs transform into a very solid bottom 6 winger -- that's his future. The frustrating thing is tonight he actually played with a ton of desperation and it was easily his best game I've ever seen him play. He needs to play with that level of desperation consistently. That said, he's the kind of player that whose deficiencies will easily get masked by having the right linemates. Since he's been a Ranger we've only had a good bottom 6 in the playoffs last season and he didn't get to play. There's never been the right mix and cohesiveness. For that reason, he likely gets moved and Vesey likely takes his spot. Vesey, while not as explosive as Gauthier is just a smarter player.

Carpenter & Krav…..not so much. And not because of Jovo’s stupidity….but I’d just want to see more from a guy who has been given a chance to take a top 6 spot. Gaut has been much more noticeable and involved than 74. He needs to impart his will on the games, and he hasn’t

Gauthier hasn't had many bad games in general.. can't say that for 74.. to add to that..i know he's had more games played but just because he didn't put the puck in the back of the net doesn't mean he had a bad game... so i stand by that. Good on defense and snakebitten on offense . Someone get him a sports psychologist already lol

Two things struck me tonight…

Halak is a huge upgrade over Georgiev.

Ryhdal sure looks like a keeper. He may start in Hartford but he will be back here soon.

With hunt as the 13th

I cant tell you which of the two will be the 4c. Carpenter would be my guess, but personally I think ryhdal is more fun. This lineup has 1 hole and thats rw. I know the cap doesn't work right now, but kane is a rw...

Reaves had a great first period and ran out of gas.

Bread Fil and Kravstov looked really good. Best game so far for Kravstof. I would keep them together and give Kravstof 20 games or so to prove he should be on the team. If not trade him. I think he will get it together

Rydahl has outplayed Carpenter. I don't care if Rydahl is waiver exempt. Put the best team on the ice.

Vesey has earned a spot on the team. Give him one year. He has to earn the next one.

Gauthier needs to be sent to Hartford. He might slip past waivers. If not no big loss. Give him the full year in Hartford to see if he can regain his scoring touch against lesser players. If not see ya.

I would like to see all of the kid line in the top 6. Kreider Trochek and Blais would be a pretty good third line. With this line up we have a pretty good top 6 and a pretty good bottom 6. If Kakko does not cut it on the top line then Kreider and him switch lines.

Should be good practice, get kravtsov used to trying to get open when panarin has the puck, or just always be paying attention and assuming the puck coming to you

Didnt watch the game, because I was busy watching the Mets shit the bed, but saw the highlights. Looks to me like the guys on the fringes of the roster all look pretty good. Bodes well for our depth if we can potentially sneak Hunt or Gauthier through waivers. Carpenter has been the worse of the bubble guys by a lot imo. Rydahl & Vesey are better at his strengths than he is.

Gauthier is not an NHL player right now. Maybe Reaves can try to teach him to be a tough guy type of player. With Gauthier’s size, Gauthier should reinvent himself as a 4th line enforcer. Maybe it might save his NHL career. .

The really incredible thing is that they’ve never been utilized in roles above who they are. Typically a completely foreign concept when it comes to this team and bottom of the lineup players.
