Shatty + parayko + fabbri? Yes the pens add to murray and a 1st. For sure .. and it would be a pretty good add. Parayko is unreal.

While I think Pittsburgh "wins" here in terms of getting a good backup/potential starter to pair with Murray and a serviceable d-man, I don't see them doing this. I think they really like MAF.

Murray is awesome but the Pens not trading him for Fabbri, Parayko, Shattenkirk and a 1st is insane. I mean, Kirk posted it as a joke because it was a ridiculous proposal in Pittsburgh's favor.

If you're thinking of MAF for Allen+ I can't find any + that really entices me on the St. Louis roster.

Agree, no interest in Gunnarsson.

Why look for a + to that? Do MAF for Allen straight up. If Jake gets picked in the draft, that is a win for us. Otherwise, we would have a pretty good one-two and save money too boot. Everyone is infatuated with the plus. There doesn't need to be one. This is more about trading Fleury so Murray is saved and saving some cap room, which will be needed.

Yep, Murray SHOULD be untouchable. If he's gone we have that flake Fleury in net making saves for his style keeper league. We would have to pray to the hockey gods Jarry can become Murray V2.

It's not only about value across the league tho. It's about value to a specific team.

If the pens trade murray, they retain maf and continue with the same struggles as they have been for the last few years. Murray is a stud, no doubt. But his value to the PENS specifically IS near untouchable (or should be).

At this point, other than a true stud goalie, I wouldn't trade him for shatty and parayko. I can see why others would, no doubt. But I personally wouldnt.

Shattenkirk is obviously a good player, but I think any team paying him the money he will want (and has earned, I suppose) would need to give him a signifiant PP role.

We player 1 D and four forwards, and even if KS might be a better QB than Kris Letang, and I think he is, while inferior in everything else, there is no way Letang's role there is diminished.

Hence we would not utilize Shattenkirk like he should be, and with that I think it would be a shame for the Pens to go for him. In something approaching good form/fitess, Maatta is a significantly better DEFENDER than Shattenkirk, and we need that more, IMO.

MAF has faced more shots per game than all but two goalies this season.
I'm not his biggest fan and want him traded from the Pens because of the other guy we have, but he most certainly would be a major upgrade for the Blues.
