Madden seems to be backing off the Jagr talk.

He was talking about Sid wanting to play with Kunitz and Perron, which leaves Horny on Geno's right wing.

Whether it's true or not, are as true as they're saying, I'm really tired of hearing what Sid "wants"

Completely agreed.

The organization should be doing what's best for them to win games. Not placate a player.

You'd have thought this organization would've learned after the Iginla debacle.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that because Crosby has Perron, he felt that Malkin should get Hornqvist so they both have a legit top 6 winger on their lines.

Maybe he did say that, i don't listen to him all the time.

What he was saying today was that Sid wants to play with Kunitz and Perron.

That means you have to put Horny with Geno then, since Both Horny and Jagr play right wing there is no where for Jagr to play.

Hornqvist can play both sides well.
He'd score a lot of goals in front of the goalie with Jagr and Malkin.

Hornqvist can play both sides well.

No, Hornqvist is only a RW. That was specifically mentioned before the season.

I just wish the Pens would trade for Jagr and run with:

Perron-Crosby-Hornqvist
Kunitz-Malkin-Jagr

The Pens could afford Jagr on deadline day without moving anyone out.

So we shouldn't take Hornqvist at his word when he himself said he can play both?

Assets: Is shifty and capable of producing offense from either wing position. Can take a hit to make a play and isn't bad in his own end. Excels in front of the opposing goal and is disruptive. Scores garbage goals.

I can't find the interview he said it in, but specifically all I remember was them trying to keep them all on their natural wings.

Perron can also play either.

Hornqvist in an interview early in the season on MMs show when asked if he can play either wing responded that he was a RW. So he isn't comfortable on off wing.

Do you really think Kunitz will help Malkin? He will be an anchor on that line IMO. I'd rather have Comeau there to bust his ass on the forecheck.

Someone needs to forecheck

If Kunitz goes in a straight line while Jagr and Malkin go East-West he has a chance of getting there on time.

Im not saying its ideal. But the other option is a Kunitz-Sutter-Downie line and lets just say I got a baaad feeling about that combination.

Has everyone just forgotten about the dump and chase since we haven't seen even a semblance of one for 5.5 years? It still exists, and it still works.

It only works if you have people who are fast enough to chase. The problem is that Kunitz, Jagr and Downie are far from their fleetest days.

Media gibberish. That's what it is, a bunch of bull. When was the last time you ever heard a media say JR, Lemieux or whoever we are going after so and so. Madden or Rossi or Eklund always say I have heard, from a reliable source that this is going to happen. They have no accountability. They make it up to feel important. Why would JR tell anyone in the media anything. They don't. The media makes it up.

Now hear is what JJ5 has heard. E. Kane coming to Pens for Sill and Adams going to ED for their #1 pick. Why then believe anything the media clowns say. Its all a bunch of crap and they get paid to do it and that's the sad part.

I will give a big tip of the hat to Madden for hammering the NHL about the state of their game. I agree with him the NHL product is growing more and more boring and something needs to change. Madden has suggested making the goals bigger 2 x2 and I would be on board with this decision.

Just call the damn game by the rule book, no matter if it's period 1 of Game 1 or OT of Game 7 of the SCF. Stop putting the whistles away late in games, call obstruction, don't call the playoffs looser than the regular season. Doing this would help the game a lot.

as a goalie i don't want to see that ;)

The problem is not the size of the net. I personally think that goals should be hard to get, and don't want to see NBA games on ice. The problem is the interference away from the puck that slows the play down. This was done on purpose by the NHL to let this go on because of the rash of concussions when they were calling those as penalities. They did this slow the players down, so that collision high speed collisions didn't occur as often.

They did the wrong thing, I think they should call the interference, and then go and de-weaponize the protective gear the players wear. Why did we used to see hip checks and now you don't really?

Back in the day you didn't skate full speed into someone with your shoulder because it would hurt you almost as much as it hurt them. It would also go a long ways to reducing concussions while speeding up the play.
