Yeah, I have no idea what to make of Canada's performance at the WJC. It was questionable enough that player performances as a whole can be taken with a grain of salt. But that said, going PPG is no easy task so good on Yager. My hope is that it skyrockets his confidence and he rips apart the league for the rest of the year. We definitely have a spot open at 3RW next year.
Murashov is doing well in the KHL, Pickering is still solid, Puustinen is doing well, Ilyin obviously playing very well...maybe the prospect pool isn't as bad as we all think. That said, it's been a good long while since we've had anything of note so our perspectives may be off.
Just gushing here a bit bit if Murashov can be our Shesterkin, Pickering can be a top pairing dman, Ilyin comes in as a roster player, Yager takes a top 6 center spot, Puustinen holds a top 6 wing spot, and one or two others from the current crop become roster players such as Poulin, Pieniniemi, or Kangas...maybe the transition won't be as bad. Add a top 3 pick and we could be okay.
Cowan
Wood
Yager
Rehkopf
Bonk
Molendyk
Is a strong starting spot with returning players.
Notable forwards in each age group who can make the team next year.
Some notes:
- Cowan, Yager, Rehkopf, Wood are all possible returnees and Yager, Wood, Rehkopf all finnished top 4 in scoring on this years team only behind Celebrini.
just some thoughts on yager form others that watched the wjr'sgive the C and A's to yager rehkopf wood next year and let them lead.
Cowan and Bonk should have stayed home this year.just some thoughts on yager form others that watched the wjr's

Sorry, that wasn't directed at you, just a general musing I was having.i was just parroting what some others were saying. while I might have a bias's view.
no need to be sorry. i like hearing other views even if i might disagree. thanks for postingSorry, that wasn't directed at you, just a general musing I was having.
Not that I don't like the players, I've skated with Easton a few times and he's a good kid and a great player, just that I think there were other options who could do the same, but better if they absolutely wanted D+1 year players in that mold. I'm sure they will be great D+2 year players for Canada next year if they are on the roster.
Both Savoie and Geekie played for the Wild who are 3rd in the league. Moose Jaw is 8th and SC is 11th. Strange.Moose Jaw (Yager’s team) acquired Matt Savoie (BUF top 10 pick).
Swift Current (Pickering’s team) acquired Conor Geekie (AZ lottery pick).

I saw a couple of their preliminary game. Neither were playing a ton of minutes. Kangas was noticeably big and seemed to be decent around the net moving bodies. Pieniniemi played a bit more, but i didn't have much of an opportunity to show any offensive ability, but he seemed like he kept a good gap and was adept at separating pucks from players which looked promising. No points and no medal for Pieniniemi & Kangas but at least they were there? And both will be back next year. Never caught a game since they were all during the day.
Strange indeed. This is the Wild's first year in Wenatchee (moved from Winnipeg), and having a strong first seasons seems like a good way to build a fanbase, even if they aren't good enough to go all the way. Both Savoie and Geekie played for the Wild who are 3rd in the league. Apparently even though they’re good they have no futures so they’ve decided to sell and load up on picks and younger players.
Yager’s not in MJ’s lineup tonight but Firkus is, maybe got banged up after all in that Czech game or maybe just a night off after the travel. Firkus never played so different circumstance. No Savoie either.
While looking for any injury info (none found) I did find this:
He’s generally solid in the WHL on faceoffs too though I think closer to 52% last I checked. Their other good center, Calvert, is also a righty so he might also be taking a fair amount of faceoffs on his wrong side.
2+2 for Broz.. almost had the HT. Showed some nice speed and foot work on a few of these plays.
Pickering 3 assists last night. 5 points in last 2 games. 8 in last 5. (All assists).
GravesWhat current dman to we have that he would be closest to in terms of style and ability? Is he a Pettersson or Karlsson-lite?
