I wouldn’t say Ottawa gave up on him. He was still putting up points. They just wanted a more sure thing at the time and had to sacrifice someone good for that sure thing in Brassard. Also Andersson doesn’t have as high of an upside. For a “safe” pick, it’s not looking great.
