Dear Penguins fans,

We thought Hextall was going to be the savior of the Flyers franchise, lead us to the promise land, end our Stanley Cup drought (can you call it a drought? What's worse than a drought?) Now look at them 👀👀👀👀

This can be you Pens fans, if you want to see your future just look at the 21-22 Philadelphia Flyers
One difference being our franchise players actually want to finish their careers here.

This reminds me of when the Pens were sold to FSG, and an army of Bruins fans screamed that we were screwed. Because the Red Sox had slipped all the way to 4th in MLB salaries, so FSG were cheap bastards who were going to screw us out of every last nickel. One insignificant trade like this isn't some predictor of future action, and is hardly the "AH HAH!" moment you think it is.

And, don't blame Hextall when numbskulls like Holmgren and Clarke still help run that organization with their dinosaur ideas. Honestly, for 30+ years, the Flyers have perpetually been sitting on plenty of talent and endless mountains of cash. But they cant get out of their own way, because they make awful roster decisions that are mostly about being "tuff" and as soon as they get cap space they blow it on an overpriced UFA or underwhelming trade asset.

It's like Edmonton east at this point

Have to figure adding Beaulieu, even if he's not back till the playoffs, makes trading a D man today more pallatable. Pettersson seems the obvious choice but GMJR is coveting Marino, so who knows. Bottom line though, is we've got 5 D making 4M+, ands thats got to give now or in the off-season to retain guys like Malkin, Letang and Rust. Too much money for a guy on the third pair.

I expect them to move Petts for a modest return and use the cap space along with Kapanen and picks/prospects to land a legit scorer for Malkin like JT Miller, Boeser or Garland.

The Flyers were being built sensibly and looked dangerous but Hextall wasn’t ready to rush to a balls to the wall contender mode. They brought in someone who would do so and it’s backfired spectacularly.

If anything Hextall looks vindicated right now.

He probably should have fired Hakstol though.

This franchise survived 3 bankruptcies a fraudulent owner and almost moving like twice. Ron Hextall and his Beaulieu deal is what is gonna do us in though.

I guess people just want Hextall to make moves in order to make moves. In case people hadn't noticed, the Penguins are doing fine as it is. Sure it'd be great to make some additions but not just to make them.

It’s the Penguins, our players are known to spontaneously combust at any moment. Gotta stay vigilant.
Nathan has some serious tools and some serious issues with his Atari computer for hockey sense.

I thought he was going to be a top 2 on the left for a decade.....his tool belt is that good. Chelios V2. Turns out he can't learn a damn thing from his mistakes and/or he has mental diarrheia and forgets his mistakes from 5 minutes ago.

I didn’t like the Jets signing him at the beginning of the season. Should have let some of the D prospect in the organization played instead
Turns out he didn’t play much anyway and better now to trade him then to keep him ahead of the rookies in the depth chart
