He's also brought in McGinn, Heinen, Boyle, and Friedman who have all done well, but it's more like Hextall has been handcuffed by Rutherford's 4 year quest to find a 3rd line center (at the cost of countless picks, prospects, and cap space) plus Jack Johnson's big pay day.

Pens really don’t need another D- so I want to say this is the precursor to another deal, but who knows.

Given the low cost and meh reports on said player, I wonder if it's even a precursor at all, or just some more depth. He's obviously not going to replace any of our top 6D. But could allow Hextall to move POJ. Or maybe Hextall likes him a little more for a PO run then POJ. Who knows. At least he wasn't expensive.
