Why does Pitt need Streit? Don't they have a ton of defenseman?

Many are currently injured.

Letang, Streit, Schultz, Määttä, Hainsey, Daley, Cole, Dumoulin. That's a good group, one or two will always be injured. The rest can be in the AHL. That's a good group, you can never have too many dmen if you fit them under the cap.

He used philly to unload Fillpula contract and then turns around and trades Streit to their Rival. I love it!!!

The Flyers actually needed a middle-six center like Filppula. He filled a need. They have an open spot for ED protection anyway. And they don't care if Pitt has Streit. The Flyers likely won't make the playoffs this year and Streit will be gone next year. The Flyers likely knew TB would flip Streit anyway.

Yea, Daley has sucked all year and theres questions of how good he can be after another leg injury and Letang on PP1 has been brutal forever.
Streit can step in and alleviate both those problems.
Potentially on point one. Definitely on point 2.

Really? He's given away a decent-ish player with one year left on an overpaid deal for pretty much nothing. It's ok, but it's not like he's robbed anyone here.

If Filpulla had three years left maybe, but it's only one.

Yeah but look who he has to re-sign, that 5 mil next year for a 7 goal player with a nmc was a major handcuff to keeping a laundry list of younger better players that need to be brought back.

If your name is Filpulla, you should feel useless

It would be funny to check the Filpulla value thread again

Tampa was in cap hell and there's expansion draft coming up.

They really didn't have any leverage. Now in Philly Filppulas value has changed.

Pens or Caps winning the cup this year

 I expected to read that statement in the Shattenkirk to WAS thread rather than the Streit to Pens thread.

Seriously, I could see someone pegging the Pens as contenders before and after this, but I'm hoping this comes out as a subtle move that pays dividends.
