Hardest working player on the ice each game regardless of the score. Instead of waiving him, he should be given an A on his jersey.

I honestly think that his unwillingness to work on his English makes it easy to assume that he also is/will be unwilling to work on his other weaknesses (in his game). Maybe he has worked on them but clearly not enough. He is perceived as final product i.e. the absolute max that he can be, and on top of that you have the uncertainty regarding his hips in the long term.

Its too easy to pass on Pulju. Too many red flags with no real upside to him.

Ive lived in Sweden for 7 years and now I speak fluent Swedish and am constantly improving as well. Had I stayed close to my starting level (totally shit Swedish learned in the Finnish education system) it would be hard for employers to trust that Im committed to staying. Maybe they would also think that Im not gonna learn other things fully either.

Not the same situation as Pulju of course but I sense some similarities in the way one might be perceived. And its an issue for him, each red flag or weakness will decrease and limit the demand for his services. I wonder if there are more teams that still want to give him a chance, starting to feel like maybe not.

Easy to guess that you probably did not see any games Pulju played for Penquins.

I still wonder why someone hasn't tried him on a line with another, hopely well established Finnish forward. If the language is a great issue, maybe see what he can do with other Finns, and then work on language guidance etc bla bla if that is the way. Maybe 5 years late for that, but with the amount of Finns in the league seems weird.

It’s not like he has to have high hockey IQ to make a positive impact. Give him a few simple tasks to do, and he’s a forward so less likely coverage mistakes end up costly.
