Contract Termination: [PIT] F Jesse Puljujarvi contract terminated by the Penguins

Puljujarvi has signed a PTO with the Charlotte Checkers. Kinda surprised as I figured he was going back to Europe

That's a little surprising I thought for sure he had something lined up in Finland for the rest of the season.

Carolina seems to be cornering the market on Finns. Not a bad bet. Well, maybe Puljujarvi is a bad bet.

Is it time?

Pulju, damn he could have been something special.

He was definitely special alright. In the height of his "he's an elite defensive player who makes every line better" derangement syndrome sparked by a JFresh tweet....JP was ALWAYS bad at hockey.

From literally one touching entire games(no exaggeration, he's played entire games not accepting a pass or skating with the puck) to ignoring an empty net to attempt one of the most hilarious slap pass attempts to McDavid you'll ever see(missed by about 10ft)

Ppl who blamed the Oilers or now Sullivan simply don't know much about evaluating talent

Coming back to Finland before your "retirement" years is the biggest disgrace a hockey player gets there, we North Americans can't really get it since we don't go overseas.

Wait.. he cancelled a paying NHL contract to sign a PTO in the AHL? Help me out. What detail am I overlooking? Does he have a prayer of playing for Florida?

...he wanted to come to the Atlantic Division...heard the Beach Parties in Florida were "fun"... :thumbu:

Possibly worthy to note that Florida is also one of the rare teams (only?) that has a Finnish assistant coach in Tuomo Ruutu. I don't think there's any existing connections but at least Ruutu could explain something in Finnish to Puljujärvi so he would at least understand the system they're trying to play. Not really sure if that's been the problem before but can't hurt...

Never mind that three teams gave up on him and he passed through waivers on a league-minimum contract: it's all the coach's fault.
Nevermind that he literally had a hip procedure that hindered his play and likely why he wasn't good in the last year in Edmonton and the stint in Carolina...not even understanding that bit of context and claiming you understand what went wrong in Pittsburgh is comical.

That's enough of your bs.

its extremely low odds but better than coming back
JP just needed games. Playing him in usage that didn't make sense for him was how Sullivan figured he should use him. Kind of like using a steak knife as a flat head screw driver and wondering why it doesn't work well and so you blame the knife for not being a flat head.

He tried to use him in usage for Nieto, Acciari, etc. 4th line bs. He did the same to Puustinen. You have skill players playing grinder roles that they were never drafted or developed for and then blame the players for not fitting or making it work with playing a style in that usage they were never accustomed to?

Then the dipshits will say well he should...

Really? By that logic, any winger should work anywhere. Sid should have never needed Rakell ripped away from Malkin or Malkin converted to wing - both of which ruined momentum for Geno. But that's how it works. If the Rangers kept Lafreniere as a 4th line plug with the same usage, he'd be traded by now. That's moronic asset management.

What he did in Edmonton or Carolina shouldn't matter. He had hip surgery, came back, looked good, then had a full camp and again looks good after a slow start and then after some good games the coach healthy scratched him for literally no reason - that was the moment where you lot need to realize, even when a player played well, this coach didn't need a reason to healthy scratch him to play one of his guys instead. It's never been about using the best player for Sullivan. It's been about using the players he wants. Then the media makes up the excuse of he doesn't have the right players.

Being from the south, Ruutu should then learn the most important sentence when talking to JP…
“Ookkonää ihan pölijä?”

I’m not so sure JP really speaks common Finnish.

Also helps having 4-5 other Finns on the team, one being the captain.

ROFL

You do get that no NHL franchise wants him, even on an expiring league-minimum contract?

That speaks for itself.
