IMO, JJ's cap hit is fine. Its the 4 more years for a 30+ year old that is the killer. Wings have enough of those already. We're just starting to see the light of day with Ericsson's original 6 year deal, we still have Nielson, Helm, Glennie, Abby and DD with 3+ years. I'd rather not add to that collection.

Detroit has the cap in the upcoming year, but that hurts in the next couple years when they'll have to pay Mantha and AA and still have Abdelkader/Helm/Nielsen/Dekeyser on the books.

Maybe if Helm was added to the deal. Helm + Jensen for Johnson + 1st. Pittsburgh gets an upgrade to their top 4 and can use Helm as a bottom 6 C. Johnson’s contract is twice as long as Helm’s

Helm is not a cap dump! He is barely overpaid if at all even.

Wings contracts are structured to shed the scabs and be replaced with young talent in the next couple years. Adding more dead weight sets the plan back 2 extra years while our young stars lose competitive years when they should be playing for cups; not more tanking.
