I want to win more Cups.
If Dubas falls ass backwards into some top 5 picks we just might.

Otherwise...
They’re leading the NHL right now so that’s pretty elite.

I get what you’re saying but they’re doing it now with no real elite players. Ovi is still good, but he’s not elite. Same with Carlsson. They’re getting these results with these players. It seems a lot more plausible to find a suitable replacement for 38 year old Ovechkin than when he was 25 years old.
Yeah I am very curious to see how they do in the playoffs this year. They're probably the most fascinating team in that regard.

I want more cups and to not watch dogshit positional zero event hockey. Watching this team is like doing your taxes for fun.

I also want to succeed while the other yinzer babies wither on the vine, but I’m cynical that’s going to happen.
Listen you can either have Mike Sullivan as coach or you can have Mike Sullivan as coach. Take your pick!

I didn't watch the game because I am not a masochist but I see we slaughtered Disco Dan's losers in expected goals and high danger chances. I can't believe we lost a game like that, this has never happened before!?!
Once again, the Penguins are single handedly keeping Dan Bylsma employed in the NHL.

Another lost game by team Sullivan. American boys getting it done. Trump approves. In other news:

Dubas couldn't win a playoff round with Marner, Matthews, Tavares and Nylander.

Why would he win a cup? It's pretty clear after his time here, he was 100% completely in charge of that franchise.
Hey I did say "might" not "will".

Tbh even if you do everything right it takes a lot of luck to win cups. So it's an uphill battle either way

Acquiring depth pieces is something every cup winner does.

You said:

"The Penguins since Shero have done an absolutely terrible job at player evaluation and drafting outside of the Phil Kessel trade."

Those players are not the result of "an absolutely terrible job at player evaluation". They are the sorts of moves that a Cup winner makes, which is by definition very good player evaluation. Further, each of those players were targeted when they were at a low ebb but ended up playing critical roles on the road to thd Cup.

And again, this is even without including the biggest trade, a player who scored 45 points over 2 Cup runs - an acquisition every Cup winner absolutely does NOT make.

JR had about a 2 year timeframe when he had the Midas touch, and there's no good argument against that.

The Pens need to commit to being sellers. I have no desire to see Sid and Geno traded, but they need to get more than a toe in the water when it comes to the impending rebuild. Before the start of next season - and preferably before the draft - they should be seeking out the highest bidder for every non-87/71/58 player with even slightly positive value.

So, how productive was this weeks PPFA (Pittsburgh Penguins Fans Anonymous) meeting?

Did we define exactly what the Penguins issues are, or are we still leaning towards the Goalies?

Now would be a great time to pack it in and quit following them. And you could stop posting here while you're at it.

No one would blame you. Pens suck, Dubas sucks...it all sucks. We'd all understand if you left.
I quit posting... mostly. Pens related specifically, but I still lurk the boards.
I only watch replay streams and have it on in the background and they never succeed keeping my attention.
I still lurk the boards but like you said, literally no point wasting my time saying I refuse to watch until Sullivan is a memory. A bad, bad, baaaaaad distant memory.

A look into the post sid era is very bleak. I'd say this franchise will be in serious consideration to relocate.

The Penguins made the playoffs twice and missed them by one point the three years before Dubas.

Dubas lost what could be a franchise defenseman with our 1st and then got a pittance of a return for Guentzel.

The future is bleak until management realizes we’ve got an absolute clown at the mantle.

He’s effectively made two or three good moves since coming here. It’s wild people defend him lol. Especially as one of our rivals completely runs circles around us.

So did buffalo when they traded that pick to San Jose.

I hate when people say a team lost a player in the draft. They didn’t lose anything. You’re assuming the penguins trade up to get him.

It’s such revisionist history.

Devil's advocate: the Pens have 5 cups because we had 3 of the top 10 ever to play the game plus a cast of players that caught fire at the right time. There have been smart moves, but also lots and lots of self-inflicted damage.

Oilers have the 2 best players in the world for a few years and have got to 1 final. Winning is hard no matter who you have.

Yeah but it’s not the GMs or coaches who win the cup. It’s the players. Again, those Pens teams succeeded because we have been blessed by legendary greats, not because we’re a well-run franchise.
