OT: Pirates Talk: Lets Play Ball

This team needs as many Langfords and skenes as possible

Arguing one over the other is getting really way out in the weeds

We f***ing suck

You could put prime juiced bonds, mcgwire, and sosa and we would still blow the lead in the 7th any given night when a holderman trots out

My point is his success is because of playing against 1 team mostly

So what? Langford projects as a superstar type of offensive player, basically a 2011-2015 Cutch level star. Skenes was still the right pick probably and certainly it's more fun. But this little trivia factoid changes nothing. Crews was the wrong pick in 2023. Either Langford or Skenes was the correct pick.

I laughed watching an Bmore game and they were talking about the gm taking full accountability for the lack of pitching. Like dam we got no offense and yet no one is talking about accountability

2nd time they have lost this season from a Bednar wild pitch.

It was really from going 0 for infinity with RISP. Cruz has been a huge bright spot but everything else has come off the rails completely. I think Cherington is a bigger problem than Shelton but you don't really fire a GM Mid-season. If Shelton can't put together a stretch of .500ish baseball for 3-4 weeks now, he should be gone by Memorial Day. Maybe it sparks them.

They are 3-14 against teams with winning records this season, and they are 33-56 since August 1 of last season. They've scored more than 4 runs once in two weeks. It's over - just a matter of time until they call it - Horwitz isn't fixing this offense. The really depressing thing is that other than Chandler, they have very little coming that you'd even have reason to be excited to see while they play out the string for the next 5 months.

I think Chandler, Barco, Jones (as skeptical as I am with him) is a nice pitching cavalry. Offensively though, it is a disaster. Horwitz, Nicky G, Yorke has been very disappointing in Indy. Endy and Davis both are offensive busts and a developmental black eye on the organization. Giving Hayes and GIDPReynolds our meager funds, and oh yeah, 4.4 Era Mitch, is firable.

I could see Shelton getting another job down the road, but this will be Cherington's last GM position.

Barco has thrown 25 innings above A so I don’t see him being part of this rotation this season. Jones, we’ll see, but most of these “rest and rehab” elbow injuries are just delaying the inevitable TJS. Maybe things just seem gloomier than they should right now but it’s not great.
