"You're a boring old man"
And nobody gets fired. Paying millions to a front office and staff that have done nothing but lose since day 1, 5 years ago.
It can only be collusion.
It can only be collusion.
Care to explain what my schtick is? Truly bizarre to have anyone attempt to defend this team or organization.Just mute the guy. There are certain people on here (and most message boards) that just have a shtick and want to beat the shit out of everyone with it at all times. Not worth reading it.
Splitting hairs here and ultimately it wouldn't matter. Even if we accept your premise that Langford is a better fit than Skenes for the team, how many wins is this difference? You can't just look at how Langford might improve the offense, you have to look at how much worse the rotation would be without Skenes and how they would have to rely even more on the subpar bullpen. The Pirates are probably ~100 losses with Skenes, are they significantly different with Langford? Is he a Judge level talent that is 10 wins better than Skenes? Great, they are still a 90 loss team. They need more than just Skenes or Langford. At this point, any not replacement level player is a win and the Pirates don't even have many of those.A pitcher like Skenes would push a great organization that's close over the top. Which is why I did not want him as their pick. The team would be much less of disaster having Langford in the lineup everyday rather than Skenes every 5th or 6th.
Nopee.....everyone just blindly bought into the shiny toy instead of the better option.
At the very least, they'd be a much better watch. Having Langford would also be a huge help to Cruz and that would have trickled down the lineup. Skenes was the best Pitcher, and would hold tremendous value to a good organization. For the Pirates, a bat should have been the choice.Splitting hairs here and ultimately it wouldn't matter. Yes, the joint bustings of Endy, Davis and Suwinski confirms that the team can't develop talent and also ensures that even a fully healthy lineup will never have a viable bottom of order.I think the really damning thing with this team at this point is that there's nothing even in the system to give them hope that things will turn around quickly. Sure, once Horwitz and Gonzales get healthy again, those guys will be big boosts for them over who they're playing there. That doesn't change that:
1. Reynolds is having a shit year.
2. They need another corner outfield even if Reynolds returns to form.
3. Hayes can't hit at all
4. IKF isn't a regular starter, he's a super utility guy being forced to play the most important infield position
5. Their DH is a 38 year old McCutchen that is going to retire pretty soon.
It's just a shitshow all around and it's pretty clear the rebuild failed and needs to be re-done. You're flat out not winning anything with Reynolds, Cruz, Bart, Gonzales and Horwitz as your best hitters and there's nothing coming up in the system to suggest anyone will become good enough to reach that level.
It's a really weird hill on which to die to be arguing that drafting Skenes was the mistake and not the 122938301 other failures that actually are the reason this team sucks.Splitting hairs here and ultimately it wouldn't matter. The Pirates have to have more strikeouts looking already than any other team will have over the full season.
They wouldn't be good but they'd score more runs if they had swung at some of the meatballs they have let go in 2 strike counts this year.
Mind your p's and q's if you go to a game at PNC or you may get the belt...
What in the world?
I don't think it's on the table, in any caseI still don't think it will happen, but if they don't fire Shelton tonight/tomorrow, they aren't going to fire him until after the season (at the earliest).
As I said, I don't think it will happen. I was just noting that things are really a nadir and the timing of things would make a change now logical. But again, I still don't think they'll do it, but this team is beyond lifeless and bad.I don't think it's on the table, in any case
What makes you think they would now?
Yeah, I came here to say the same thing. It's either time for it to happen now, with something like a roster refresh and Yorke/Chandler coming up for the weekend, or else it's just not gonna happen.I still don't think it will happen, but if they don't fire Shelton tonight/tomorrow, they aren't going to fire him until after the season (at the earliest).
Reynolds always starts out slow but finishes decent numbers but he isn’t a championship caliber player.I think the really damning thing with this team at this point is that there's nothing even in the system to give them hope that things will turn around quickly. I really like how the dumbass 'fan' after getting punched in the mouth made a ceremony of taking off his hat and coat so that he could...spit on the guy? Really impressive, dude.
