OT: Pirates Talk: Lets Play Ball

You see a score, see their record, then check in on what everyone is saying. Simple.

im amazes there are people that still attempt to be positive, like you and Factorial. Amazing stuff guys.

Who said that we were positive? Speaking for myself, I'm a realist and this is what the team is like it not.

If it bothered me as much as it does you I would stop paying attention.

Why put yourself through such misery.

Talking about the worst franchise in all of sports once every few weeks is not misery.

I used to have season tickets to this dumpster fire of a franchise. I can talk shit on them all I want.

Kinda pathetic really though. They should just trade Skenes tomorrow since this is what the teams is

I had season tickets in 1983. Anyone investing (emotionally) in that since the mid 1990's should look at their choices.

It is going to take a lot of discipline to not get my hopes up when BC and Shelton are fired.

The root cause will still remain.

NH was never, ever as bad as Cherington because he could find useful players off the scrap heap. Cherington can't help but fill a lineup with .500 Ops fodder.

having two good players seems like a pretty good formula for being awful when no one else is good and one of the two good players only plays every 5th game and requires the offense to show up to win
Sure, but the point is that they have 2 star-level players at basically a minimum salary, something that is invaluable to building a good roster - and they are pissing that window away.

Angels had Ohtani and Trout and never made the playoffs, the Pirates can showcase the low budget version.
It’s not the same thing at least the Angels were spending money on other hitters. They gave Rendon a ton of money. We have 3 players making 6 million or more this season. Hayes Reynolds and Keller.

having two good cheap players really doesn’t matter that much in baseball? they are about 2 or 3 good players away from wasting anything imo, they just have two players worth watching in a sea of garbage

The NHL has a floor.

It not only forces teams to spend, but takes finances entirely out of the equation putting the onus on management to make the right decisions based only on adding a talented spporting cast based decisions.

As I said, apples and oranges.

yeah, im just saying having a great cost controlled pitcher isnt anything like having a cheap elite qb in the nfl. a good team just needs so many more pieces and disparities in money make that harder and harder, especially when the organization is completely inept. rather than wasting skenes and cruz years they have wasted 30 of mine

A pitcher like Skenes would push a great organization that's close over the top. Which is why I did not want him as their pick. The team would be much less of disaster having Langford in the lineup everyday rather than Skenes every 5th or 6th.

Nopee.....everyone just blindly bought into the shiny toy instead of the better option.

A major league team really started a lineup that had Hayes-Canario-Gorski in the 4-5-6 spot in a real major league game. There's just no excuse for this level of incompetence. The Cardinals aren't even any good and yet here we are. At some point they HAVE to do something if just for the optics of pretending to care, even if they don't.
