I think Callihan and his agent would be happy if he was Mangum.

Speaking of which.
Mangum is hugely important over this next stretch especially if Griffin is out longer. He seems to be locked in-ish.

Finally, where is Esmerlyn Valdez already. Why is Cook here and not him. We are facing a lefty, and we want to give Ozuna a last chance, I get it. So DH Ozuna and put Valdez in right please.
I'd feel like a million dollars if i was a career minor leaguer who just hit BOMB off Ohtani.

That'd be enough for me, even if i never got another hit again, tell everyone in your life i hit a HR off Ohtani out of the stadium

A Callihan heater might be what we need to try and limp closer to the deadline in some kind of contention. The Cruz injury being on his hand is tremendously worrying given how important he is to the offense, even after he does come back.

It's not coming to mind immediately but I think we did have at least 1 other game where we clearly and obviously deserved to lose. Regardless, good to finally be on the other side of one of these, and it's hard not to hope it leads to some kind of spark.

Keller vs Wrobleski is a nightmare matchup on paper tomorrow but we'll see. The Marlins and then the A's, Rockies, and beyond are a lot of winnable games, even if we are in no position to look past any opponent. Maybe the .500 thing is still a big rallying point and even if it is meaningless in itself, there's an enormous difference right now between being 35-33 where we are and 28-41 where the Giants were, and we've flirted with heading in that direction. Even 31-37 would be a relatively difficult hole to dig out of given all that we've seen.

I think a huge issue was not stacking wins when we had the chance, but if we set that aside, regardless of any of the talk we want to have about true talent/deserved record/etc., we're right in the thick of a dog fight that's gonna be decided by 5-6 games in one direction or the other.

Winning this series would have me feeling a lot better. Stole a win tonight, got the momentum for tomorrow.

Knowing this Bucs team we probably lose a series to the Marlins or As.

We should use the opener again tomorrow with Montgomery. I realize Ohtani and Freeman are freaks of nature against anyone and may crush Montgomery, but we really need to avoid Keller seeing them a 3rd time.

I think we've generally played better against inferior/equal competition but we haven't faced as much adversity as we are currently facing. In a lot of ways I think what we need to see are the pitchers step up and carry a stretch, though obviously with the bullpen there's only so much they can do.

Yeah I wouldn't be opposed to this. I suspect we might not but Keller's performances of late and the opponent kinda dictate it. The bigger question will be whether the offense shows any kind of pulse, but hopefully we will be riding the momentum after this comeback.
