In my opinion.. any hockey player who doesn’t like winter in Canada shouldn’t be a hockey player
There's winter in Canada and then there's Winnipeg. Winters in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal are alright. It gets cold but the location makes up for it. There is absolutely no reason why you would pick Winnipeg over any other city in Canada. Maybe a toss up between Edmonton and Winnipeg in the Winter.

As an outsider

Habs fans not wanting to give a top end piece are being greedy. PLD Suzuki is a duo that would give them an instant chance to turn things into a winning situation rather quickly. Feel like the posters thinking stay the course and not wanting to surrender something substantial are missing the boat if Dubois would be happy as a Hab

For LA getting Dubois puts them in the Knights territory in terms of roster strength. Dubois could be polarizing though. It will be interesting to see how that massive ego handles the spotlight of LA and off ice distrations. His track record sucks that's for sure

For Wpg getting Vilardi comes with some risk but he's a helluva player when healthy and would be a nice piece towards retooling that team with good people vs the shitty leadership of Wheeler Scheifele and Dubois. Do wonder if he can transition back to C in the future also.

Bring the noise lets see some deals...
Some might be greedy.

Am I interested in a player of PLD's ilk? Sure.

Is it the right time to add a PLD to the lineup? Debatable.

What is fair value? Johansen's move to Chicago sets a low bar. Severson only got back a third in what amounts to a sign and trade. PLD holds all the cards. I think if the offers were rolling in, it would have happened already. Whatever perceived greed is displayed is a reflection of that and the likely meager offers that would have been made.

I'm trying to figure out if the reported return is good value, great value, in excess of what others might have offered. I haven't made up my mind yet. I think Vilardi has the potential to be very good. There's injury history to be concerned about. We'll see what his arbitration eligibility nets him in an RFA contract. Iafallo would give them good middle six depth.

To be honest, I don't really understand why the Kings are using the little amount of cap space they have to trade for PLD over adding a good goalie. With Kopitar, Danault and Vilardi down the middle, I don't really see the point of trading Vilardi, Iaffalo and more for PLD.

Because Blake thinks the Kings window to make another cup run is long. It's not of course unless they start successfully developing all their top prospects.

Vilardi is not a center.

Goalies are too inconsistent. We won most of our games with our 3rd string guy last year.

Let’s just go big…
PLD extended + Hellebuyck 50% retained + Dillon 50% retained for…
Vilardi + Spence + Korpisalo rights + Iafallo + Arvidsson + Turcotte + ???

Where did I say Vilardi and Iafallo are enough assets to acquire a #1 center?

Continually fabricating positions on behalf of others says everything about your argument and nothing about mine.
Because the Kings are (apparently) about to acquire a #1 center for Vilardi and Iafallo and you don't seem to think this is a massive win for them.

Vilardi is not a C
Kopitar is 36
Kings got pushed around by the Oilers 2 years in a row and need to get bigger
Big centers with the talent of PLD come along very rarely. Blake is looking at both the present and the future.

I’m in southern Ontario…. True southern Ontario, not Toronto, and it gets -20 -30 here on occasion… is what it is.
Its also 30+ in summers

Sure, Vilardi could be Tage Thompson 2.0. Or the Kings could be trading him at absolute peak value coming off a flukey 19% shooting season and he never crests 50 points in his career.

I know which side of that bet I'm taking.
If traded to Winnipeg Vilardi will easily crush 50pts if he stays healthy. I think you need to watch this guy play more. 23yr old about to become a top line stud if he can stay healthy. Not that many players like him around

Honestly this is odd. Supposedly a PLD deal is in the works but not of the big guys have tweeted anything.
It was also tweeted 2 hours ago

I wonder if Pagnotta is doing what he normally does and just takes what others have said that has pretty much narrowed things down without saying it and he goes ahead and just says it.

I mean, what he tweeted was said on here about a hundred times over the past week.

What if…. No credible sources aren’t confirming this because it’s not that close to done. I can see HuGo making a trade conditional of whether they can climb the draft board for a center or not.

Think we need to be careful with Pagnotta. After the Chychrun fiasco where the Kings needed to call their best prospect and reassure him he wasn’t going anywhere, you’d think the Kings would’ve had a conversation with everyone in their inner circle, to keep their mouth shut. While it was Kypreos who threw his name out there like he did, it’s this Fourth Period and Pagnotta who started the whole fiasco.

Sometimes it’s not the greatest thing to have a fan of a team being an “insider.” They love using the phrase “if it gets passed the finish line” and half the time it’s followed by “hit a snag.” Between the Kings and the Flyers, it’s hard to say who leaks more.

Poor Tory Krug is being vilified this morning for having a well earned NTC, and we know it wasn’t Armstrong leaking it. Now Gabe Vilardi is probably on the phone with his agent.

To be fair to both Briere and Blake, both teams have had this issue for awhile. Especially the Flyers. Look at JVR at the deadline. For all we know it’s some salary cap expert/nerd working for the teams, but it is the manager who has to put a stop to it. If this thing now doesn’t get across that “finish line” who knows how Gabe Vilardi takes having his name thrown out there like this. It’s not written as “speculation” but as the teams are “finalizing” things. Big difference. So if this doesn’t come to be, that will now have been twice in months it’s happened.

Players want to “feel wanted” more than anything. Especially after having a season like Vilardi had. Hopefully this does get done because if not, this is how players start being very unhappy with a team. All because some idiot can’t keep his mouth shut.

Korpisalo's rights are just the rights to negotiate with him until July 1st.

Hey, I’m kinda a big deal. Once we heard LA was interested, I and many others made the connection to Vilardi and Iafallo. That should have been enough for a “confirmed” thread IMO.
