Wow, I honestly struggle to remember anybody getting this kind of treatment for not living up to his contract around here. I remember people absolutely shitting on Luke Schenn and Marc Staal back in the day for them looking like pylons on skates, Orpik getting ridiculed for his contract with the Caps and his limited ability with the puck but nothing comes close to this kinda hate. Not even the likes of Skinner were bashed like this.
Man we get it, you don't like Rob Blake for making that trade and you don't like PLD for not wanting/being able to produce like you expected him to. It's okay, your teams have moved on and you should to. Let that hate out of your heart. It's just 16 pages of pretty much the same people repeating the same mantra about "once yall start losing - come back and tell me how right I was". Man nobody gives a rat's ass if you're right or wrong, just stay in the present and stop acting like a crazy jealous ex.

Anyone who's watched all the Caps games this year, will tell you he absolutely has not sucked this year. He's playing a big role in Wilson and McMIchael getting off to great starts.

It’s kinda crazy that people think the hate is over the top when he’s been ran out of many organizations and has been a bad attitude every where he goes. It’s not the fact that he played like shit for the Kings, it’s the fact he didn’t even try to be good. Fiala for all his talent makes mistakes for example but he’s always trying. PLD made excuses and the excuses don’t justify the lackadaisical effort he put for the entire season

It’s a Long season. The Capscare off to a hot start. But they really aren’t very good and PLD is certainly not good. Give it time and the crap will sink to the bottom. Imo PLD is not only a crap player but he’s a crap person. I’m also of the opinion the Caps will miss the playoffs and PLD will be partly why.

At evens, he leads the Caps in HDCF%, is tied for 2nd in xGF% with CMM (linemate Tom Wilson is first), 3rd in SF%, and his line is tops on in the team in CF%, despite his line being used in a shutdown capacity against top lines with a 40% Ozone start rate (the only line with a lower % is the Dowd line). He’s top three in pretty much all individual metrics as well.
He’s been unlucky finishing-wise and haters gonna hate but PLD has been dominant so far on both ends of the ice. Very happy he’s on our team.

He's shooting 4%. He's also simply not shooting a lot because he has absolutely no need to, but go on.
True, but as someone who has watched every Caps game this year, he has been snakebit. Hit the post a bunch, had a few unreal saves go against him, had some great looks that turned into tap-in rebounds for his line mates. He’s been playing well.
I think maybe another thing to note is that the Caps had Backstrom and Kuznetsov playing last year at PLD-money and they were below replacement level players. Simply awful at everything and caved in in every possible metric. PLD hasn’t been scoring a ton but every time he’s on the ice the Caps are the better team and it’s night and day going from Backstrom and Kuzy to Strome and PLD.
I’m not saying he won’t turn into a pumpkin and become ass at some point but that point is not now, so we’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

I mean, I saw a lot of that when he was in LA. He could make decent moves and then bang it off the pipe. He ended up at 11% though.

Happens at times players are unlucky. A lot of great players on that list so far this season. Matthews, Marchand, Wyatt Johnston and Hyman for example. Its a list showing whats expected based on play. Then of course if you are always on the list you might just be a bad finisher, but its clearly a bit unlucky if you also look at his shot % that is only at 4% compared to his normal 12 % +. Hes been great so far for the Caps as his underlying numbers show. If he keeps this up he will do good point wise and with no PP1 it isnt expected he will be a pint per game player, but around 60 would be nice based on his usage.

Yeah this totally doesn't sound like "we can't wait till you're miserable like we have been since he f***ed us over cause why would we be happy that he's doing well on the team that got him for free when our GM made one of the worst trades in recent years".
