I don't even know what Debrusk was talking about. "he was just going for the puck" the kind of braindead play Debrusk would make because he didn't deserve to be on the ice from a hockey or skill standpoint.

Roy should feel like shit for what he did. I believe he did. The puck was around but to two hand somebody in the face with your stick. I don't care where the puck was I don't see that as a hockey play. If somebody on the other hand accidentally highsticked trying to bat puck down at least that could be understood as an attempt at a hockey play.

Roy reacted like a guy going to the gallows. he knew what he did and the book was going to be thrown at him. The skate of shame off the ice not even looking at team mates because he completely f***ed up. To make matters worse it was an offensive zone play. A major Penalty taking place 150 ft from your own goal.

Putting the Stone and Vegas whining to bed.

Theres an attempt by Stone and other pundits to try to say that the missed Arvid call altered the outcome of the game. That Vegas would have been on the PP and the McD to Drai play would not have occurred.

This ignores that Vegas in the situation are down one game and playing with fire being in OT, in their own rink, in game 2. Really its their failure they left their postseason in such peril as to even be in OT in game after squandering game one. But it also ignores that the Oilers before scoring hit the post twice in OT, and inside of post on one. So close I almost thought it was in, as Kane did.

Vegas team should be angry at themselves for being bested both games at home and now being in a shit situation. They allowed the Oilers to be in these games and the Oilers took the games with lethal kill strikes. Interestingly occurring against Vegas star defenders.

Its poetry too to see how unraveled all of Vegas best players were on the ice on the winning OT goal. They were f***ing schooled. Own it. Don't look for pity excuses. Vegas had everybody they would want on the ice for the winning goal and they gave up the winning goal. Look in the mirror.

I liked the way Rick Bowness phrased it last night after the game.

"Did the Oilers get lucky there, was that a trip? Yes absolutely. But also Vegas got lucky with the posts before that, so they should be happy there was even a missed call to complain about."

Also like - sure they missed the call, but there was like a whistle and several minutes of play in-between. It'd be different if like the trip happens and then shortly afterwards, McNabb still writhing on the ice, the puck goes in.

The one thing I noticed about Vegas players these two games is if a stick is remotely even near their face, they go to the extreme with the head snap and falling to the ice like they were shot. It's embarrassing to see guys acting like their eye was gouged out when the stick barely nicks the outside of their visor. No honor in the game anymore.

On the OT goal, Bouchard gets the puck under control behind his own net at 4:47. Its in the Vegas net at 4:40.

This is why, IMO, he is a core player and you pay what it takes to get him signed. You need his offensive skill on the blueline to make the most of McDrai. And when you do, you have a quick strike offence that no one else can match.

Probably the hardest I've seen Bouch skate to beat Stone there and get full control of the puck back. Really hope we get to see Ek-Bouch again in these playoffs. Would be the best pair in the NHL again.

Our PP has been lights out at home so far these playoffs. Hopefully that continues. The only reason Vegas has been close in the first two games is due to special teams, if we get back to normal on that, look out.

What a game, and it feels good to win in spite of ourselves for once. I can't remember the last time we were on the right end of a higher scoring circus game that could go either way. I'll also take the call in OT as a form of restitution for the absolute bullshit we faced up until this point going back years.

Rishaug made a pretty salient point on GYB that was astute and something the team still needs to work on - each time we put on a 60 minute clinic (Game 5 vs. LA; Game 1 against Vegas) we respond the next game with a sloppy half cocked effort. We still don't seem to have command of our game in the sense of "ok we got them, now let's do it again in Game 2." The mentality, which is likely subconscious, still seems to be "ok we own them, they can't skate with us" only to then not put in the work that got them the win the game before.

I was encouraged by the subdued nature of a lot of the post game comments from the group, however. They know that wasn't good enough and we got away with one and I feel like had this game happened 5 years ago they would have been back slapping, so baby steps. I just hope that if we put on another clinic in Game 3 that we don't forget what worked in Game 4.

The one that apparently wasn't called, the stick clipped the guys shield and you'd think he was hit by a snipers bullet the way he snapped his head back. I think maybe, just maybe, the refs got a bit tired of their antics.
