Post-Game Talk: Pickard orders McDavid to go warp speed

Sticks between legs is dangerous, especially along the boards and when a D is trying to turn. They have no way of knowing the stick is there. Its one of the dirty tricks in hockey. Its again a dangerous play due to the amount of times players spill hard into the boards when this happens.
Consistency is the issue.

So a day later. After the Oilers win the biggest game of the playoffs, in OT, in Vegas, to take a 2-0 lead.

Strikes me that the biggest difference in management of the team is that KK made sure that the stars got as much time as they needed to get healthy for playoffs. Sit Kane all season so that he's good to go? check. Give McD and Drai several games off down the stretch. check (and this is the first time in the whole McDrai arc that the two have been parked for appreciable time. Previously its maybe 1-2 games off)

Then have McD particularly have less of a superstar role this season. WE got some of McD lite this season. Also Hyman lite, Nuge lite etc. Only Drai was bringing his usual. The others took some rest, the team was quicker this year to park any first place ambitions, and personal trophy ambitions and just rest up for playoffs.
Then we pull a Vegas going on a run with a backup goalie instead of the one every club expected, and now other teams are going f***!!!!. Teams don't know how to solve Pickard. for so long scoring against the Oilers was just moving puck across or plays from behind net or screen shots. Pickard is dealing with these.

But the genius in parking a lot of superstars this season and being less reliant on them is trying to force the support players to dig down deep. Indeed the last few weeks of regular season was a strong message that if the team was going anywhere it was doing that with solid support through the lineup. I didn't think this was going to occur, but what a masterful coaching job all round, and getting everybody rowing before playoffs, getting everyone involved.

This is the best coaching staff the Oilers have had since the glory years in everything from strategy, prep, adjustments, involving players positively. Enjoy it people.

I mean kinda amazing

How long have we cried, bitched and moaned for someone else, anyone else other than Skinner and look now. I know Skinner upped his game somewhat in round 3 and 4 last year but I strongly believe Pickard would have won the Cup last year.

Pickard is good enough and can make game saving stops, Skinner rarely ever did.

Why change a winning lineup.
Emberson hasn't been a minus player in any of the games these playoffs and I am not sure that Stecher will be a better option on PK.
Keep him playing while we are winning
I think it's more about being trusted with extra ice time and not so much plus/minus. He's only getting 6-7 minutes per game, and the other 5 are going to wear out quicker. Stetcher can probably be trusted with 10 or more minutes a game.

his level? I know hes popular and has a following, but he employed by a podcast network. He isn't exactly Elliot Friedman or Bob Mackenzie (when he was tsn anymore)
He's a major source of breaking news and significant hockey insider, he can't make that mistake. Hell it's brutal of him to tweet about Arvidsson at all without the context of Roy's hearing.

He's absolutely on Friedman's level.

So Roy has a phone hearing. Is a phone still a suspension or only fines?

You would think he would get suspended for breaking a guys nose

I think it's pretty safe to say that Vegas has taken over the throne as the biggest whiners in the league from Tbay.

I hope Mcdavid/Drai keep their heads on a swivel, we can probably expect some attempts at reprisals again on the grounds that the Vegas players feel the refs aren't protecting them again. Just hope someone reminds Nurse about the rules regarding starting a fight in the final minute of a hockey game

anyone can make a mistake. Hes covering sports for christsake. The stakes aren't that high. It was clear an error and it was fixed. Whats the big deal?

I wish I had a video of that Eichel fake head snap. I wanted to screen record it and put it in slow motion.

They should play that on the jumbotron at Rogers on repeat during Vegas warm ups.

Edit - or maybe play sad music during the 10 minute tv time out and ask everyone to direct their attention to their jumbotron for an in memoriam segment and just show eichel writhing around on the ice for like 30 seconds. RIP

not only a head snap, but he f***ing jumped in the air.
I could only find a screen grab
