I'm confused on all the complaints. Ward was cold and overworked against LA. What did everyone expect today?

Some people don't know the difference between most of our shots (no traffic, mostly outside the circles) and most of their shots (point blank, from the slot, with screens, sometimes from our own defensemen).

Did someone really complain about the 5th goal?

what a shameful, embarassing exhibition of pro hockey, so utterly disorganized. the easiest thing to do as usual is to blame the players.

And who would you like to blame? I'm all ears, because I have NO idea who you are going to blame. It's an utter mystery. I'm waiting.

Nothing is going on. Of course he got hurt last year but he played well against LA last game. Today he came on in relief and even though he allowed 3 we should have scored 6. We had 8 or 9 powerplays I believe. Ward is getting up to speed and he's the least of our worries imo.

The third goal might be the very best summarization of the Canes issues the past X years.

1. A failure of 2 full minutes of a 5-on-3 leads to...

2. Eric forgoing his defensive responsibilities in an attempt to do...something. This turnover forces...

3. The 6th-7th defenseman that's out there at the time (Bellemore, in this case) to completely misread the play, leaving the passing lane wide open.

3. The rest of the players on the ice have left a player wide open in the slot, leaving whichever goaltender is in net to defend for themselves.

So let's go down the checklist:

1. Eric being Eric? Check
2. Failure of a PP? Check
3. Defenseman mistake due to inexperience/not being very good in the first place? Check
4. Goaltender on an island? Check

What are they debating? With Khudobin down, Ward can now play as crummy as he pleases. It's not like Muller will start Peters.

A caller said essentially the same things that are being said here about Ward (average, hasn't shown anything special under his big contract, lets down the team with soft goals).

Maniscalco deferred the question, saying he'd get in trouble for the things he wanted to say on-air in response. Forslund then took only a slightly more diplomatic approach, calling it "out of line", "completely wrong", etc and pointing to Mike Babcock's unsolicited praise of Ward earlier this season. Finished with Maniscalco underscoring his desire to say fine-worthy things to the caller.

Was amusing to hear at the same time this board was blowing up on the same topic.

I don't think it would have mattered who was in goal for us today. Someone forgot to tell the guys we were in the black jerseys and not the white. I could pass the puck better than they did today.

Let's no forget to complain about Coyotes players standing all over the crease, and not one Canes player attempting to move them out. At least two Yotes goals were scored while standing in the crease. Not one $#@$ was given!

With no solid backup, Cam won't be sat if he has a bad game. At least with Khudobin healthy and playing very well, Cam won't get two bad games back to back. If Peters is actually called up, we're screwed.

This in no way is saying Cam has been terrible yet. He's played well except for that one game. But he hasn't been spectacular.

I hope they call up Mike Murphy and give him the bench door job. We've pretty much seen all Peters has to offer. And I have a feeling Khudobin may be gone for a long time.

Let's talk about a positive.

Skinner and Gerbe.

Skinner has found a defensive game, and doesn't seem to be putting himself in bad positions to get himself killed.

Gerbe has been pretty dang solid also.

Yeah, that injury definitely shook him up.

Maybe he's still recovering from it, but I hope he can return to that Detroit game form.

Bellemore was on the ice for 3 goals tonight. Not like he was one of the players playing when goals were given up, he was literally laying on the ice when 3 goals were scored. That's not good. Not that anyone else was very impressive at all, but yikes.

I noticed that he is laying on the ice a lot.

Gleason / Hainsey once Gleason is back.

Still better than Gleason, at least he can't screen the goalie while lying down.

I doubt we will see Mike "graveyard" Murphy with the Canes. He was lucky that our terrible goaltending depth was able to secure him an AHL job after he stunk it up in the KHL. Though I would still take him over Peters.
