lol at people giving 5.5m to Danault

Let's give him top 6 minutes for another 5-7 years!
What could go wrong!

1 assist in 10 games during a brawl in front of the net.

You pay 5.5m to center than can do stuff offensively , Danault can't it's pretty clear by now if you don't see it perhaps your hockey knowledge is not really high.

He should look at Adam Lowry new deal with Winnipeg , a bit less good defensively but way better offensively as a 3rd center.

Anything above what Lowry earns is just because media overhype him as the next candidate of ROR or Bergeron lmfao.

JG Pageau is very comparable in terms of style and what they bring. Pageau is considered a 3rd liner and is paid 5 mil per season. Is Danault worth less, more or the same?

Pages does have a 24 goal season under his belt

backlund another comparable, capt hit of 5.375

he’s not as good defensively as you mentioned and prior to this year, his best season was danaults worst in MTL offensively I believe.

hes also got like what 5 years lol, nothing here screams give danault Lowry money

KK and Suzuki.....they actually scored and played at both ends of the ice.
again, agree to disagree.
It's easier to replace Phil than it is those two kids...talent wise.
You need to score, to win the game.....a shutdown centre is great and all, but they are role guys....that's there role and he is awesome at it..............there is a reason for years on end recently why we did NOT make the playoffs....we couldn't score. Playing the game like Phil does is important...but the playing not to lose has gotten us nowhere...
You need to score goals....3 or more, and Price is golden....we have wasted all his best years, with Phil and no one else as a true #1 C.
The kids are 21 and 20............and are on their way.
3rd line centres come and go.......that's why Evans and Poehling are getting ready for that spot if Phil wants too much cash or can't handle just playing in a role he is meant for. Giving Phil too much $$$ is a recipe for disaster.
Anyhow, we are not going to agree, I get it.....
Are you right? Yes, in your mind....Am I right, yes in my mind....
your " you need to score to win" is only a part of the equation. " You need to prevent goals from the other team to win the game" is another part .
Oiler's and Leafs scored a lot of goals this season and look where the are right now.

In 7 games against Danault

Marner; 0 goal
Matthews 1 goals

Jets in 3 games

Connor; 1 goal
Ehlers ; 0 goal

and fans are complaining that Danault doesn't score

Naa he’s not overpaid, Calgary got good use of him prior to his signing and when he signed. Prior to flat cap sure but Danault gets more than him lol.

...and we continue to scratch and claw just to make the playoffs...you may be OK with Mediocrity, I'm not...money is required for a PMD or two and LW upgrades; if Phil wants that kind of money, he can walk...

Shocking you are telling me that Lowry got less points than Danault because he's been playing on a third line for the last years while Danault been playing with Gallagher and Tatar with 19min of icetime in the last 3 years while lowry plays 14min a game with bottom 6 linemates.

Oh dear how is this possible.

Now put Danault with Lekhonen and Armia an entire season and let's see the outcome of 20-25points coming up. Was on pace for 40 points this season still with his regular forward and had Caufield Anderson Toffoli on top of that during the season.

Danault has been great defensively...but it's disingenuous to attribute those numbers, or lack there of, solely to him.

Unless of course to attribute all the blame to him when they do score.

Danault has 2 assists, one more than Anderson, but hey, i am sure that you destroy this last in his own thread . By the way, How much money does he win ?

All nice and dandy, but unfortunately you have zero substance here considering his stats show exactly what i told you. You can decipher what Lowry does with better players but if my dude is 29 or 28 and still hasn't done it ,chances are he wont lol.

Btw Adam Lowry for five years is actually laughable.

Actually quite the opposite my dude, I am watching a player shutdown "top end" talent. Sit back and enjoy it :)

Id rather have Lowry for 5 years at 3.25m than Danault at 5.5m-6m for 6-7years who struggle to put 10 goals in a 82 games season.

I still can't believe why you people wanna spend so much money on a guy that should be playing 14-15min a night at best.

Anyways im wasting my time when someone thinks that Danault is a top 6 center in the nhl.

First off, it's not just Phil doing it; our D has just as much to do with it and Price has even more...second, it's a FLAT CAP and we have multiple areas that require immediate upgrades...third, he can't do a damn thing offensively...giving that much on a long term deal to a defensive specialist is moronic...

Anderson has 1 goal his in 19 last games.
If you followed me during the last offseason when Anderson was signed , I said it was a mistake and still side by it. We gave 7 years 5.5m for a 40-45 points player.

But you are right Offensively , Gallagher , Tatar , Danault and Anderson has all been putrid again this playoffs. But like I said , everytime a player does bad on this board means hes injured and thus any argument is invalid

Dumbo Gm just gave 7 years to Gallagher and Anderson , you think he won't do it?
He was 1 goal away from being fired , it's totally in Bergevin small brain to make another disaster of a contract and you know it.

But yeah you are right , anything above 4 years and 3.75m+ would be dumb as f***
I don't mind keeping him but give him his real role and be done with giving him always the best offensive wingers

Meh he's a rather large part being the centre and all, so is what is it.

I think youre putting too much weight on this flat cap, Anderson got a juicy contract for flat cap lol

He’s one of the few in the league though. The flat cap has made an impact on the contracts being given out, especially long term contracts to forwards.

Since the flat cap came in only 2 forwards have been given 6 year or longer contracts in the entire league (6 that were 5 years or longer). The year prior to the flat cap (March 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020) 22 contracts were given out to forwards that were 6 years or longer (27 that were 5 years or longer).

i know but when several fans don't understand the concept that you need to score AND prevent the other team to do it to win... don't go in a too elaborated analyze direction .:sarcasm:

He's been an absolute monster but the incoming contract isn't going to be good and I'm sure no one will be happy about it. I mean if he keeps this up next round then you HAVE to keep him. Even at this point I don't think you can let him walk. He's been a huge part of our success. No two ways about it
