More like for Skinner, Henrique and *checks notes* Corey Perry.
You do realize that Perry is making peanuts, don't you... His salary makes absolutely no difference to the Oilers cap situation, if they did not sign him they would had needed to sign another warm body for about the same...

The conversation is about Skinner, Henrique and Arvidsson taking cap space away. Anyone who says a bottom 6er making near league minimum should be ignored.

that 8 points he has so far must just be killing some oiler fans and the 4 goals holloway has
I get matching was an overpay at the time, but I don't get letting both get to that point. As a Cat's fan, they both looked promising in the finals.

As an Oilers fan seeing this thread stick on the main page stings. I mean we all seen how he went to another level in the playoffs.

I’m still glad he’s doing well but he didn’t have to be this good did he!?

Jim's not very good with math. A 4.6million dman on the Oilers at the start of the season would not have fit under the cap without using Kane's LTIR, and the Oilers could not be cap compliant to activate Kane off LTIR in that scenario. They can add that money at the deadline only because of how cap is accrued. This also ignores the fact that the Oilers can actually add a cap hit double or quadruple that at the deadline when retention is factored in.

The Oilers management miscalculated thinking they could get these RFAs for cheap as most teams usually do, but there is no scenario where Broberg could have been matched in a world where Kane returns from LTIR during the season (which seems inevitable given current reports that he should be back by Jan/Feb). The only way they could have made that work is if they traded 4 million off their cap and currently there isn't a single 4 million dollar player on the team who doesn't have a NMC except for Arvidsson who they just signed, and Ekholm who they obviously can't afford to trade.

Broberg passes the eye test as well. He's a very skilled player...great find by Armstrong. Put him on our top pair and our top PP!

His production is likely unsustainable throughout the season. But even if he puts up 50 points this season, this will look really bad for the Oilers. He's already logging top 4 minutes and is going to be a big part of the Blues future.

As a Blues fan i would be extremely happy if he hit 45 points over this season while logging top 4 minutes.

Currently Blues 📉 Broberg 📈. Hopefully realistically things level out and Blues & NHL fans can see Broberg again in the playoffs this season, even if only for a bit. Great find by Doug A.

Here's the thing, the Blues only top 6 center got injured a few games back and he'll be out another 5+ weeks so the chances for Broberg points and posts in this thread are naturally going to recede a bit so you're in for some relief soon. It started already with 2 goals scored over the last 2 games it's just that Broberg seems to do well even if everyone around him isn't helping.

The Blues window doesn’t open for 2 more years when Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Lindstein and Stenberg will be ready. Just need Broberg and Holloway to keep improving. Thomas, Kyrou and Neighbors will be in their primes

The points he’s putting up are really just a bonus. He’s been better in his own end, and knowing when to join the offense, than I was anticipating. He’s played extremely solid D.

The Blues lost to Ottawa 8-1 and he was a +\- 0. He was the only one on the team with a 0 other than Kapanen who played 6 minutes. It’s a pretty crazy stat.

It’s still extremely early but he looks legitimate in every zone.
