But there’s other teams that present a chance to win & wont make you defer the money. I’m not even trying to be a hater but that wouldn’t be appealing to me if I was in their shoes. I want my money asap.
There's probably something appealing to pro athletes deferring money that guarantees they won't go broke shortly after retirement.

Though these Dodgers contracts are for players that are unlikely to fall into this problem...

I don’t know why so many of them are accepting deferred money.
When it comes to the Dodgers it's also a way to dodge California taxes. The signing bonus is taxed based on where the player legally resides when signing. I think Blake Snell got a large signing bonus and lives in Washington and it has no wage tax.

There are more complications with deferred, but I believe if the earner gets the deferred money 10 years later it bypasses state taxes from the employers state.

f***ING CALLING THE YAKUZA RIGHT NOW. WHICH DUMBASS IS IT?

Told you!

It's either someone who a) didn't want to "waste" a vote on someone who was easily going to get in and give that vote to a player more on the fence, which is stupid. Or b) is a contrarian. Or c) is a terrible person for reasons we all can understand but I won't type out for fear of TOS
