Check the "salary cap" thresholds.

Middleton is rich, but at some point (they were 2nd highest payroll last year) even he'll gag.
And FAs with QOs cost you draft picks and Int'l bonus money (worse prospects) as well as a big tax penalty.

So sometimes you have to take a step backward to take two steps forward.
It isn't like one player is going to dramatically improve their chances this season.

They won 95 games last year with Walker/Phillips as their 5th starter.
Painter is healthy, and while he'll be babied coming off TJ surgery, he's got Wheeler potential.
Big boi who throws 98 with 4 plus pitches and control.

And in baseball, if you make the playoffs, anything can happen, especially if you have a solid rotation for the playoffs and a good bullpen.

So to me the priority is another RP to go with Romano.

They were 33-33 after the all star break. Running it back will be an absolute disaster

Kinda like that tbh. Needs some fixing, but it’s one year at a reasonable price. Infinitely better reaction for me than Merrifield. Solid bat with a good glove is a profile they could use out there. Batted ball stuff looks like it’ll fit well.
In a vacuum it’s not a bad move, but it’s not a move that gets the team any closer to a championship.

Dombrowski is a f***ing joke.

Middleton allowing this dude to waste Harper and Wheelers prime is absolutely criminal.

whit merrifield 2.0

Josh Harrison 4.0

Went to one Riversharks game when they played in Camden. It was to see Rickey when he was playing independent ball with the Newark Bears. He was 44 and played his last season in the MLB later that year.

Unless I am blind..at the time I write this..the world wide leader in sports has nothing on Ricky
The A's haven't either, but the Raiders have.

Fun fact: The A's twitter has all comments turned off. What a dumpster fire.

Edit they posted right after.
