If the Cubs/Astros talk for Tucker is involving Seiya Suzuki going to Houston. The Phillies really don't have any comparable outfield MLB talent to match.

Now with Bregman leaving the Astros would need a 3B so maybe something built around Alec Bohm plus prospects could work.

Phillies might even be able to help it along by taking Ryan Pressly off the Astros. They apparently don't want another year of paying him $14M to be a set-up guy.

I just don’t get how anyone in the organization or fans would be content with running it back.

They won’t be a playoff team if they run it back. They didn’t beat the Mets and the Mets got better and the Phillies have gotten worse / stayed the same.

Something has to give. Move Bohm or Marsh. Move a SP if that’s what they receive in return. Show some life and interest in some of the players. Ffs.

They'll be a playoff team. They won 95 games last year, with Walker/Phillips as their 5th starter.
Painter should start 15-20 games this year, and they have some other young starters on the cusp of the majors.
Crawford, Ricones, Kemp will start the season in AAA.

Yes, DD needs to explore all options, but don't want to go back to 2012, when they kept draining assets for "one more year" until there were no more years.

Who cares if they make the playoffs? Why are you always happy with just making the playoffs? The goal is to win. This team, as it is now, isn't winning.

I didn’t want the Phillies to get Crochet because I don’t think he’s that good. Didn’t want the Red Sox to do it either, though.

As things sit, you're probably going to see a large difference between betting markets and season projections for the Mets. Why matters a lot here.

Anything can happen in baseball.
The 2008 team wasn't as good as the next three Phillies teams.

This team needs tweaks more than drastic moves.
The most important is coaching, teaching some hitters to be more patient and work pitchers.
They've added one RP, they need one more.
And a 5th/6th SP for insurance.
Don't want another big salary for an 30+ year old player into his mid-30s.

My sleeper is Otto Kemp, injury prone college career, broke out his senior season but went undrafted. Emerged the last couple years, last year RC+ 173 (measure that adjusts for ballparks and league) in high A, 137 in AA, then tore up the Arizona fall league, can play 2B, 3B, LF. You need one or two of these guys every year to come out of nowhere and provide cheap depth.

I definitely don’t want to just run it back but I still think the Phillies are a playoff team and in the playoffs, anything can still happen to some extent. Baseball is probably the easiest playoffs for Cinderella type runs outside of a hot goalie in hockey

Yup. Hes the kind of bat uprade they need. Curious what the line up with him would look like.

Personally id like to seem them finally try Trea leading off and Schwarber in cleanup.

Turner - SS
Tucker - RF
Harper - 1B
Schwarber - DH
Castellanos - LF
Realmuto - C
Stott - 2B
Sosa* - 3B
Marsh/Rojas - CF

*Assuming Bohm traded in Tucker deal. Can look to upgrade in separate move of course (Bregman?)

Some of these opinions you have I don’t think you actually believe in.

Baseball is the most fickle thing when it comes to prospects.

The team will not contend, they are MUCH closer to the second half of the year than the first.

Older and more prone players. They have so many holes and so many problems.

I want championship titles. I don’t want just playoffs. I don’t want to be one and done.

The team as it’s constructed is pretty shit, aging pool of shit. Glad we’re wasting away all the stars we have with just hoping for a playoff series.

Unreal.

I can’t even think of a reasonable package both sides would like for a Tucker deal.

I don’t see how they’re a playoff team after the atrocious second half of the year. Mets should be better and I can’t imagine Atlanta is going to get that destroyed with injuries again.

I’d be surprised if they make the playoffs with the same team running it back.

With 1 year left on his deal it should be similar to what the Yankeed paid for Soto. I can live with that type of package assuming we plan on re-signing.

I can’t really remember the exact details of it. But I’m in a fully win now mindset, so I don’t care what they give up. I just have no interest in running it back.

They’re playing a dangerous game with the fan base if they run it back. The good will is gone. The team is aging.

I guess they’re maybe trying to hold out for Painter and Miller (which they apparently included in a Crochet deal) but not sure that’s gonna be enough.

With the black holes on the team currently, there is no way that would be enough.

I thought the Crochet package was Bohm and Crawford

I think HC is talking about Matt Gelb saying the Phillies offered Miller & Crawford at the Trade Deadline in July for Crochet and the White Sox pushed for Painter to be added to that and the Phillies walked away.

I think this off-season they then focused on using Bohm and Crawford. Not sure what other prospects may have been entertained or if Miller is now 'off the table' more than he was in July.

If they're going to move on from Bohm, they need Miller.

Crawford is more expendable, especially if they think Rojas can take a step up, the other CF prospects are 2-3 years away. Crawford has a lot of raw talent, but some flaws as well.

You don't trade Painter or Tait, period. Tait held his own in A ball at 17 years old, he has a chance to be special - you don't get a lot of shots at "special."

Caba is going to be an elite fielding SS, question is whether he'll get strong enough to handle ML pitching.

The key with prospects is to identify the top guys, then trade the 2nd tier guys they'll block, like Bergolla who was moved last summer.

Miller and Crawford.

Ah I see thanks. I'm pretty sure there were reports last week that the best they came forward with this offseason was Bohm and Crawford.

Painter would make me pause for sure, I think that's the right call if Boston still wanted him. Only way Painter goes anywhere for me is for a lineup changing hitter
