How so? He works for them. Whatever happens is on the players. My guess is your just a Boras hater.
Did you not notice the big name Boras clients last season that didn't get deals done until the end of spring/beginning of the season?

And that they took a haircut.

This lays it out pretty good.

The player has the final decision does he not?
Well one of the 4 players who got shafted by Boras last year fired his ass. But he didn't have a team until after the season started because he wanted to believe Boras would get him what was discussed.

You said blame starts with the player. Not if they were working with in good faith that Boras would get them the deals he said he could.

They can say what they want there is no guarantee. When the agent is presented an offer from a team it is then up to the player to decide what to do. Would you agree?
What I'd do is what Montgomery did and that's not in Boras best interest so Boras should have done his job better. That means he's at fault and to blame. You don't go for 5 years 140 Million and end up at 1 year 25 Million. I can't see how that's not the agent at fault. Boras totally misread the market. Players may have a yearly salary in mind but not term and salary unless they were involved in all the negotiations.

Same reason as Jordan Hicks. More $$$.

Eno's a big pitch nerd and seems to think he does. It's 3 above average to plus pitches and he had good command last year. Of course where do those pitches land when he's stretched out remains a question but he has started in the past.
Wasn't he like two or three seasons removed from starting though?

I never would have thought Nick Pivetta would get a qualifying offer... I also never thought Nick Pivetta would REJECT a qualifying offer.

Started 15 games in 2019, 11 in 2021, both times with Colorado.
94 MPH as a starter, 97 out of the pen.
1st time he started, four seamer, curve, splitter
2nd time, four seamer, slider, splitter, curve
slider, four seamer, splitter out of the pen, though he worked in a two seamer last year.

He could make it work as a starter, if the splitter is good enough (basically a changeup), and he improves his two seamer.

You didn't answer my other question.

Who makes the decision to sign a contract? The agent or the player?

Because they don't have final say.
So just quit playing ball? If that is the best offer you got on the table you sign it. How hard is that to understand the issue is he shouldn't have been holding out if that was what he was prepared for. Boras Agency screwed up plain and simple. They didn't read the market and prepare their clients for the real market not the old Boras Market.

The 11 in 2021 was with Cincinnati. I hated him starting but it was a situation where they were so wounded he was next man up.

He started in 16 of 23 appearances in 17 and all 15 appearances in 19 with the Rockies.

Stubbs has an option left, Marchan doesn't.
So Marchan may be the #2 until the inevitable injury.

Tait is a few years away, not sure they have another catcher in the system.
