Ok so I know they've come alive here which is great, but something that annoyed me in the 4th inning was that Merrifield steal

1st and 3rd, two outs. Merrifield on first. Rojas is up and the first pitch he shows bunt and pulls it back on a fastball middle middle. Obviously to allow Whit a chance to steal. He doesn't go. Second pitch Whit steals and it's another fastball middle middle and it's taken. Base stolen with no throw. Great job Whit, now it's 0-2 to the 9 hitter. That's brainless base running. Take this with a grain of salt though, because it's worth noting I'm a Whit hater.

Shame the Stott throw ended up with an unearned run. Just set your feet bud

Seen people speculate the Padres/Preller had an agreement to sign Ethan Salas by having him not play HS ball in Florida and be classified international.

Another possible is last year the Orioles gave a $2.3M bonus last year to Luis Almeyda who was born and raised in New Jersey and moved at 15 to the DR to establish residence to sign as an international amateur a year later.
