No chance in hell Thomson would have brought in Buehler on 1 days rest to close out the World Series. His lazy ass is always kicking the urgency can down the road. He would have thrown Strahm out there even if he got rocked the last 2 appearances.

Unless the Yankees win one, does that error solidify Judge's legacy?

He feels a lot like Matthews. Phenomenal player, absolutely phenomenal. But boy does he come up small when the lights are bright

They're not going for Soto.
Boras likes to start these rumors to convince his target team there's going to be a bidding war.
Phillies simply don't have the "cap room" unless Middleton wants to go stir crazy.

They'll probably run it back with tweaks, they did win 95 games.
Sign Estevez or Hoffman.
Bring back Walker to ST on a short leash.
Maybe start Painter in Lehigh, but he'll be up at some point, throwing 97-98 in Arizona right now.

Who is an outfielder the Phillies can get who sees pitches and walks a lot not named Soto?

Can't help but wonder if our best non-Soto "outfield" acquisition is actually Alex Bregman, and move Bohm to LF (or trade him). Other than that, most of the top outfield names walk an average of 40-50 times a year. (And I don't understand why this is, but I can't find a pitches per at bat stat on Baseball Reference; that feels like an obvious, useful stat to track.)

On the player page, it’s under the “Pitch Summary — Batting” section. The column is marked “Pit/PA.”

a) Thanks!
b) That is a godawful place to hide that.
c) In that case (I finally found the league leaderboard for that) Jurickson Profar, Jesse Winker, and Teoscar Hernandez are the three FA OF options in the top 25 in the league, all of whom saw 4.00+ pitches per at bat this year.

Playoff Nick might be better than playoff Judge. At least with Nick there are some clutch moments to go along with the slumps and quick outs

I'd rather have Bregman in LF than that slow ass giraffe.

I wish they could get Soto, guys such an elite hitter, with such a great approach. 100% future 1st ballot hall of famer, he's a friend of Harper as well so who knows. A lot would need to happen to make it work, but if you can do it, you go all in and pay the man. It's extremely possible, but highly unlikely he comes to Philly.

Phillies already at $241M after they give raises to a few players, so Soto would blow past the 2nd salary cap tier, huge financial penalty as well as draft picks, etc.

If the Phillies move Bohm, I’d like them to look at Chisholm.
