Other Sports: Philadelphia Phillies: The Road To .500 Continues Into Red October (2024 Edition)

The bullpen blew it in the playoffs. LMAO.
Sure took a turn for the worst after Kimbrel Kimbrel'd, didn't it? You can't say they were complicit in the collapse. Offense wasn't either of course. It was a perfect storm. But ignoring 70 innings sure is a decision to make!

We all know why they lost that series DP. Don't try to distract us with the bullpen.

With the news of Taijuan Walker's back flaring up and his velocity still down, they NEED to go out and sign Montgomery. He's right there. If Middleton is going to wax poetic about wanting to win multiple championships, he needs to push all of his chips in.

Going after Montgomery is maybe the move to make if Nola or Wheeler went down. Walker has value as an innings eater but there’s no sense in getting desperate about losing him.

Some of these spring slash lines are scary.

Also Merrifield played LF with Marsh in CF today. Possible Opening day lineup.

Do you want to win the Division or bank on winning another Wild Card round then having to beat Atlanta in the NLDS again for the 3rd straight year?

Having to only win 11 playoff games instead of 13 would be huge.

Walker is realistically like their fifth most effective starter at this point. I don’t think that’s a role you scramble for at this point in the season.

Montgomery becomes the #3 though, which improves on both the 3rd and 4th slot in the rotation.

Id imagine after the Wheeler & Nola extensions they probably never really had a big appetite for either Snell or Montgomery. Even the Snell deal probably doesn’t work for their salary/contract outlook on ultimately a 2B-3 rotation piece.
believe there’s pick compensation tied to Montgomery.

I also believe Dombrowski has publicly said in season trade at some point might make more sense for the team.

Ohtani was pretty blunt in his denial of involvement, but didn't address how the interpreter could have accessed his banking information to make the payments.

If he's involved in any way, there's no chance his lawyers would have let him have that press conference.

The thing with not wanting to pay Montgomery is they were willing to do it for Yamamoto. I guess they don’t want to lose the draft picks
