Soto through Age 23 was almost exactly on the Mantle path. Not quite Trout or Pujols, but close. Post-War, it’s those 4 plus Eddie Mathews alone at the top of the best starts to a position player’s career at that age. If he doesn’t make the HoF, it will be a major upset. Think of how conservative I am with projections and I’m still saying that.

The last two years haven’t been quite as good. It’s fair to ask why. But it doesn’t diminish what he’s already done.
