Two major pitcher blunders in my immaculate grid today. Oops.

Both mistakes could have easily been avoided if I actually thought about it for a second before answering. I took so much care the first few times I played, but now I just type the first names that come to mind.

I cannot BELIEVE you of all people haven't watched this kid. He's can't miss. 80 everything

This kid stole home twice. On the same pitch. Elly de la who?
I did some YouTube scouting. Probably gonna need to quiet up those hands a bit but he has great bat speed. Brian Barber has been great since he joined though so have to give them the benefit of the doubt for now (weird to say, I know). They haven’t really developed any power prospects though so this will be different. Also the ageist in me says he’s a 19 year old high schooler.

Surefire HoFer

I do understand he's another "dropped because of an injury" guy so...yeah. Philly sports seem to love this archetype. Sometimes it works out! Committed to Arkansas I believe so...good luck to him. We'll see if he goes pro soon I guess

It was weird actually knowing a little bit about the guy they selected. That was only because Callis and Carlos Collazo were going nuts over him at the HSAAG and U18s.

It seems like there's a lot of optimism in the prospecting community that he can stick at 3B. I've seen some SS talk this morning from Phillies sites, but from everything I've read pre-draft, it's a question of which corner.

He’ll sign unless his medicals get flagged. Hamate’s are annoying and typically sap power for a bit.

They announced him as a SS which isn’t uncommon. Most teams announce as the more premium position. I guess they think it inflates value. I’m sure they will throw him at short this summer and see how it goes but yeah he’s most likely a 3B. This org trotted Alex Bohm out at third all of these years. I’d bet on him sticking at 3rd.

Wait what?
I know buddy. I was 17 when I started college. My parents f***ed up.

I too was 17

Wait, I was 17 too. I also got a job at a casino at the same time and they didn't realize until I showed up for my first day that I hadn't turned 18 yet. That caused all kinds of problems. I put my damn birthdate on the form.

Realistically he turned 19 a month ago. Still would be off from when starting school so either he started a year later or missed/repeated a year earlier on. June 9th 2004 birthdate

Actually looking at Florida I think it used to be that you must be 6 by February 1st to start 1st grade. So he's listed as Florida and that would probably explain it. Would have been 6 in June 2010 which would have pushed 1st grade until 2011 and grade 12 then being 2022.

Maxpreps has some stats from Freshman/Soph/Junior years and he was hitting .400 by his Sophomore season so I don't think it looks like a case of someone busting out as an 'over-ager' like we'll see sometimes in hockey.

It’s out of the players control so I don’t think it should be held against him as much as it should give younger players more credit for being in the conversation at this stage. The smart teams factor in age (for high school position players) pretty heavily. Obviously, like with Baty who was more extreme, at a certain point talent is talent. And at 27, you are looking at guys with warts everywhere so take your shot. There’s just less room for error when you are taking a physically developed 19 year old.
