It’s out of the players control so I don’t think it should be held against him as much as it should give younger players more credit for being in the conversation at this stage. The smart teams factor in age (for high school position players) pretty heavily. Obviously, like with Baty who was more extreme, at a certain point talent is talent. And at 27, you are looking at guys with warts everywhere so take your shot. There’s just less room for error when you are taking a physically developed 19 year old.
I think baseball has gotta be the hardest sport for scouting prospects. You got like 30% to 40% of your draft being HS kids who played at extremely varying levels of actual strength in different leagues. Compared to say hockey where most of your similar aged prospects are playing in either Canadian Juniors where they are playing against a much higher day to day level of competition than anything in US high school baseball, or they're possibly on the USNT program also playing at a higher day to day competition.... Or you even have tape of them playing in international competitions against even higher talented teams.

Meanwhile in baseball you got a scout giving their report on watching some kid playing in a high school league where half or more of the players may not even play competitive baseball after graduation. It's got to be ridiculously difficult to evaluate. Not to even get into the international aspect of evaluating a 150 pound 15 year old kid from Venezuela or something.

Wait, I was 17 too. I also got a job at a casino at the same time and they didn't realize until I showed up for my first day that I hadn't turned 18 yet. That caused all kinds of problems. I put my damn birthdate on the form.
My HS Chemistry teacher was going to have a part time gig at the racetrack until they weren't able to fingerprint him. He burned his off handling chemicals.

There are more solutions than I expected to the Cleveland team/career 3000K square. Blanked on that one.

Phillies just took a kid with more walks than strikeouts…he’s a pitcher. That must be one hell of an arm.

Looks like a nasty crossfire from the brief video.
7.5 BB/9, 7.8 K/9 this year.
His rookie year his BB/9 was 16.4. Which is friggin BONKERS. although only pitched 7 innings.

Seems like he has a plus plus fastball hitting 100 pretty regularly, but absolutely no command and control.

6th round: George Klassen 7.5 BB/9, 7.8 K/9, 5.72 ERA
7th round: Jake Eddington 6.5 BB/9, 9.5 K/9, 4.20 ERA
10th round: Cam Brown 6.5 BB/9, 10.1 K/9 5.20 ERA

Phils definitely have a 'type' for college pitchers and I don't have a problem with it. Better than going for soft-tossers who have no shot unless they turn out to be Greg Maddux or something.

Stock up on the hard-throwers and hope some you can teach command/control to. It's what they did with McGrarry. He was 8.8 BB/9, 14.4 K/9 with a 5.44 ERA his senior year at Virginia

He's 6.9 BB/9 this year so it's not like he's completely turned it around lol... but at least developed him into a tradeable asset along the way.

Don't know of this was mentioned, but I read that 51 of the last 73 games are against teams not In a current playoff position

Julio Rodriguez sounds like Joel Embiid

Personally I'd be thrilled if I never had to listen to Eduardo Perez talk ever again

Anything featuring Eduardo Perez is terrible.

They call it bonus time but...everyone gets it? And then if you get two 440 footers it's...an extra bonus 30 seconds. Wtf
Give me ten outs or give me death.

At least the broadcast seemed to find their grove camera wise because we had two cameras on the batter there for a bit for the first batters.
