What do you think he would say? Halladay was too injured to pitch at a high level by his mid 30s and he got addicted to painkillers. I would hope he'd be more about self preservation if given a do-over.

I think it's a good thing for pitchers to understand their limits. Toughing out another inning when there's nothing left is needlessly risky to both the pitcher's health and the team's chances of winning. Maybe Kirby should have more tact in voicing his frustration, but I wouldn't say he's wrong.
Just can't be saying the quiet part loud

You tell the manager that you don’t have it then. You don’t whine to the media about it.

Imagine Roy Halladay’s thoughts on hearing this.

Imagine what Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan or Tom Seaver are thinking. I can’t even imagine a manager having the balls to tell Ryan, “gee Nolan, I know we’re only up 3-2 after 7, but you’ve thrown 102 pitches. I’m going to the ‘pen”

That manager’s remaining lifespan could be measured in nanoseconds.

How so? Is the reason there is a doubleheader Monday is cause of the Eagles home game Thursday? Could they have not just had in the afternoon? Both have off days Thursday.
Yep. The night game on Monday was originally scheduled for Thursday but they moved it when the Eagles schedule was announced.

Then they had a game rained out and turned it into a double header.

I guess in theory they could move a game back to Thursday afternoon but I have my doubts.

Another big start for Nola. Biggest game of the season overall with the tiebreaker implications.

Also, these Marlins uniforms are such an eye sore.

If the Marlins catch the Phillies where tiebreakers are needed, they are going to be bigger problems . If they win 1 out of the next 2, it will be very difficult for the Marlins to catch them.

A lot can change in 20 games but youre right, if they blow it and lose on tiebreaker to Miami, it probably means they missed the playoffs anyway.

I totally agree but unless the Marlins win the next 2, they will be 5 up in the loss column with 20 to go. The Phillies have the Braves 7 times but the Marlins schedule the next week or so is difficult with the Brewers for 6 and Braves for 3. Not easy. I think 86 is the magic number, probably even 85.
