I feel like we need a new thread name. Recycling road to .500 year after year is not only bad juju, but boring.
Most importantly, we should feel excited that this is the last year of Castellanos, win or lose
Phillies 2025: deferring to 2036If someone wants to suggest or one of the other mods want to swap it. That’s fine. I just mostly copied the other one.
I should have tagged you last night when I suggested it was time to make a new thread. Apparently @SnS thought it was a good time to make a new part for every thread that we had going. Guy made me click in a lot of threads this morning so that they would all show as read.You fools, the team is still trying to get on the road to .500 in WS' with this core.

Yeah the lineup looks ok until you see the Braves and Mets. Unless both of those teams have bad injury luck we're fighting for third, maybe 2nd if we see some bounce back stuff or the starting rotation just dominates. I do not have high hopes for this season.The rotation looks awesome but I'm feeling uneasy about the lineup. Can't see Bohm being a top 10 RBI guy in the NL again. The Realmuto decline seemed very real. Maybe we get a monster year from Turner?

Yeah, it's peculiar looking at the lineup that's out-hit their defense for 3 seasons morph into the same lineup that's going to score just enough for their pitching to carry. And to some extent, their defense to win some games. With the exception of SS and RF, they are positioned to be largely a net positive in the field.I get the pessimism, but Fangraphs has them projected for the third most wins (behind LA and Atlanta). It's probably not going to be sexy if you like offense but that rotation should keep and win them a lot of games.
Painter is the X-factor. Josh Norris at Baseball America said he's the best pitching prospect he's seen in 12 years. Said he might be better than Roki. I think people forget he was going to debut as a starting pitcher at 19! If he's anything close to the phenom he was looking like, that changes the outlook.

Neither can anyone elseThey still can't hit good pitching though lol
Soon = JulyBeen waiting to watch Painter for years. Soon.
I need this guy to win me overThe ABs in the postseason were dreadful but postseason baseball is weird and unpredictable. It highlighted the flaws in the lineup but 4 games is 4 games.
Steamer has all 9 regulars projected to be above average hitters. They have a lot of guys on the wrong side of the aging curve so there is risk, and they don’t have the guys at the top like LA and Atl, but the lineup is more than fine and I’m sure they are going to try to add a bat if the pitching is as good as it looks on paper.
Soon = July![]()
