I dont know football as well as others but allowing a 3rd and 30 is not common . Especially when your coordinator specially sets up to not allow big plays. That cant happen. Another 6 sacks though.

Do I need to know football to know letting someone roam wide open is bad?

Seemed like Josiah Scott should’ve been deeper on that play. Looked like Slay passed off the route to him because he thought Scott had it covered deep.

***I might be wrong, but that looked like what happened.***

**DISCLAIMER** : I haven't seen the end zone view to speak to this with any authority yet. I'm also not an actual authority, just a dope with an interest.

It looked to me like Slay was using a Sink technique, which means he's counting on help over the top. I don't know the call, so I don't know if he should have been, but it's a reasonable assumption given the situation.

I thought it was Josiah “torched all game long” Scott’s fault on the 3rd and 30 too, not slay. He took a terrible route to the ball. Slay not gonna throw a teammate under the bus though. If Scott is playing meaningful snaps come playoffs though, they are gonna have issues in the secondary. Dak picked on him routinely all game. He was beyond terrible. I think even JJAW could have found openings against his “coverage”.

Clearly. It was just a horrific angle by the safety. He (Slay) was responsible for back shoulder there.

That’s what it seemed like.

On another note: We need to keep Maddox in a bubble boy costume or something. This dude is getting hurt a lot this season. He is so important to the success of this defense. Scott is such a liability.

They will get the top seed, they will win the division, and they are going to play their playoff games in the Linc.

But, when it's 3rd or 4th and 10+, hopefully after tonight they learn not to get beat over the top. What a stupid ass coverage on that play. They blanket it deep and they're division Champions tonight. Unreal amounts of stupid.

The only thing that is really concerning to me about yesterday is the 3rd and longs, which they have been so good at all year though. Two of the turnovers the runningbacks just dropped the ball. The defense did not play well but you cant give the team the ball a net of 3 times especially a good offense. The Eagles showed they are the better team. The Cowboys had injuries on defense but their cornerbacks are out for the year. Ideally Lane is fine. If Avonte can get back a month from along with Chauncey I think some of those defensive issues will get resolved. Also on 3rd and 30, play the sticks defense like Schwartz did. I know many hated that but that is likely to work on 3rd and 30.
