Worst take ever. That loss wasn't on him. He staked them to a 21-3 lead and then Vance Joseph goes full Vance Joseph and gets their D so predictable that they got the whole game turned around on them.
Did you see some of the throws he didnt make to wide open guys? Or last week when they only put up 16 against probably one of the worst defenses in the NFL? When they decided to kick the fg at the end a couple plays before his tight end was wide open for a touchdown and it wasnt even close. There were countless other examples of this. He also cant move as well as he did (age is finally catching up). The Seahawks should be arrested for theft.

So the 2 passes that went 40+ yards in the air right into Mims's hands (something I constantly heard as a Broncos fan that Russ couldn't do anymore) are just washed over a few passes he missed that other QB's in the NFL also miss. Yes he's overpaid. But he's not the huge problem people make him out to be.

He also can still move just not like he did before. He looks better this year than he did behind the disaster of a line they used last year.

What made him very good was his ability to move around and improvise, now due to being in his mid 30's he doesnt have that quickness anymore. Signs of this and his decline started back in Seattle. Starting off 0-2 at home against two of their easier games doesnt bode well and they have a difficult schedule. I suspect they will draft a quarterback next season with the top 8-10 pick they will have.

Expecting a quick turn around with a new OL and new head coach is a fools errand. Look at the things that were really a mess last year most of that is cleaned up already. Clock Management isn't an issue. Patchwork O line now has veteran stability but needs to gel.

The problem is the Defense that was giving up 17 a game last year got torched yesterday with screens because Vance Joseph has to blitz 2/3 the time which they didn't do last year and still got good pressure on QB's. Joseph is going to be fired if they keep getting torched.

The Broncos are moving the ball. That was the big question. They’ll be fine.

*fine does not mean making the playoffs
They had to win the first two game to have a playoff chance. I know that but I am happier this year than last. Last year week 4 I was done with them. The head coach was in over his head and it was horrible to watch.

Jeudy deserves better.
Mims is going to make him expendable if he can't stay on the field.

Apparently on 3rd or 4th and 3 or less when Jalen sneaks it he's at 96%! Cant remember many times he's been stopped.

I did think it was a bit off they brought back a former head coach especially one that wasnt very popular.

I would say those are reasonable expectations. Basically what you needed to get out of this season was to find out whether or not you HAD to eat the Russ contract. They still may end up doing it by the time the spring comes around because they decide on a relatively hard rebuild, but it doesn’t look like it’s absolutely required.

I would guess they keep him because of how Payton’s NO tenure went, but who knows?

Comparing a 25 year old with a 34 year old QB in mobility is a strange comparison. The wear and tear on any 34 year old QB is going to take steps away from them. Also the Rugby play will be banned next offseason.

That is why you bring in a coach like Payton who has the reputation of taking a damaged goods Brees and turning him into a Super Bowl QB. Russ needs to use his mobility on a pitch count and become more efficient as a pocket passer if he wants to play out that whole contract.

Otherwise he's toast after 2025. that's the out that everyone knows is built in for a reason. Salary cap increases by that time will make the 31 million dead cap a huge nothing burger if they have a QB on his first deal for 2-3 years.

And yes I questioned the Jospeh hiring... I wanted Desai

I'm wasn't comparing them, just a stat I just saw of all the quartbacks. It might be banned but they tried banning it this past off-season and other teams have tried and failed. If you are going to ban that, then bring back the rule of not being able to push backs with the ball.

I do like Payton and he won a bunch of games a few years ago when Brees was out. He's a good coach.

The rugby play won't be banned. If anything changes, it's going to be not letting the tailbacks help push from behind. Honestly, I'm not sure exactly how much that would inhibit the Eagles' QB push. It's mostly O line and Hurts. There are certainly times when the tailbacks help, but most of the time they are pretty much a non factor.

You can't eliminate the play entirely, that'd be ridiculous. That's why I figure they'll just say no more pushing on Hurts' back.

But also like...maybe the competition committee should just tell the other teams to git fkn gud

It will be the no pushing from behind rule. Kinda like the no leverage on field goals. It will be deemed illegal under the guise to improve player safety. And I did see a few teams this weekend and do it successfully. Which is why I bring up it being banned. When it was done the TV people mentioned it should be illegal and was tried to be banned this past season but when it didn't get banned others added it to their playbook. All it is going to take is one QB hurt from it and it's no more added leverage from behind in the rulebook.

The answer is pretty obvious & McVay would never admit to it anyway but this is just the result of sports leagues integrating sports betting into their mainstream discussion. You don’t have to be a degenerate now to necessarily know a head coaches’ record against the spread. People very much still boxscore scout & they spread is very much used a gauge to how good or bad a result was in the game.

The 9th tiebreaker is points scored, also.

I mean the most realistic scenario is that they wanted the cover but…you never know.

This man…

Ah yes, the serious gambling reporter who doesn’t understand the most basic of reports on casino finances. He does a tweet like this every month:

For table games, casinos have no idea what the handle is. It’s never recorded. This number is the percentage of the drop that they hold.

For sports betting (and keno), the handle is known. So in only those two cases are the numbers telling people what he thinks they are.
