In York's defense, he wasn't one of the 32 people who had that one job when teams could give it to anyone they chose. Given the choice between relying on Joe Burrow and the backup kicker, why would you choose the backup kicker?

I wonder what the best numbers we have say about choosing to run the clock down and kick a FG instead of scoring. ~30 seconds probably up 3 vs 1:30 up 7 feels like at least a discussion worth having.

You have what you're running and then a skinnier version of it for your back up, which is largely devoid of any timing routes that require practice reps. There's a reason it was slant/sluggo and digs. Those are window routes.

It's really hard to win with a back-up in the NFL (talent drop off, lack of reps, etc.). It's even harder to do it on the fly.

I don't care all that much about the Cardinals, but I would be happy to not see the Rams in the playoffs for another couple years. Alas, the Cards remain the Cards, so I'm probably stuck looking at the Rams and their Temu Vault Suits for at least the first round of the playoffs. At least they probably get the souls kicked out of them by the Packers.

On one hand, I wanted the Rams out of the playoffs.

On the other hand, seeing Gannon fail when our SB aspirations are on the line just feels...right.
