Hurts needs to show up, he’s done it before he’ll realize where the hell he f***ed up in this game. People forget this guys played at Alabama he’s been in the national championship games, he’s performed in the Super Bowl. I know he hasn’t been great lately but if that left knee is good to go I have faith. All we can have is faith, but I truly believe he can do enough for the birds to win. We have an elite D and Barkley. That Redskins rookie QB has never seen lights this bright divisional games against the 20th D in the league VS the top dog defense in the most hostile environment in sports, one mistake becomes magnified beyond measure, we’ll see. Those same lights differentiated many of the greats from the winners (think Brady / Manning )we’ll see what happens. I just think there’s levels to this but anything can happen.

Edit: this was probably Hurts first snow game ? Maybe idk

Also feel free to roast me, go Birds it’s the only team this city has anymore, god help us.

Hurts needs to protect scoring opportunities. Can’t take sacks that knock them out of FG range. This kind of weather not going to try many kicks much over 50 yards. So can’t afford to lose yards past the opposition 35.

Moore needs to dial up plays with a good check down option to allow Hurts to gets the ball out. Plus Hurts can’t hold the ball that long.

Between the PAT misses plus losing FG chances potentially left up to 8 points on the field. Could have been up 2 scores at the end vs potentially losing the game had rams scored and kicked the pat.

I know it happened with Wentz but what the hell happened that the QB of the Philadelphia Eagles is infallible and you’re not allowed to criticize the man?

Not saying on here by any stretch of the imagination but JFC the lengths some people will go to defend the man in the fan base.

It’s reality. What is the problem with pointing it out?

Compare it to Donovan.

I think part of it is the dopey listicles like QB rankings that are everywhere now. Same goes for the newer statistics that we have. They’re both easily accessible mechanisms for finding slights to get angry about or bringing to your dopey talk show to rile people up.

Donovan also had to fight against the not being a pocket passer talking point. Although some of Hurts’ biggest fans want him to be that? That one really confuses me the most. He creates so many mismatches in the running game where the defense can’t be right.

I think it started with the Phils where you just weren't allowed to criticize them at all and had bled over to the Birds. And to be fair, the Eagles do keep winning, might not be pretty but a win is a win.

But yeah, at this point I think the only way we don't win the SB with this roster is if we beat ourselves, it's just that we are getting increasingly good at doing just that every week

I think its a combination of increased social media and hot take culture. There can never be nuance to any topic anymore. And the public's general inability to understand that correlation does not necessarily equal causation. So as long as Hurts has a win-loss ratio well above 2 and makes the playoffs, his diehards will always have the "the guy's just a winner" narrative to fall back on.

I've seen an awful lot of complaints that Fangio "sat back" in the 2nd Half and zero meaningful details about what that actually means or why it's different than what he usually does. That feels instructive.

If anything, it seemed like he was too aggressive with blitzing. After the series that Stafford fumbled, it wasn't getting there and they were getting picked apart. I belive the Carter sack was with a 4 man rush.

I suspect a ton of those easy short yardage plays was a result of DBs simply not trying to fall down

What else can you do in that weather other than blits and pray? It won them the game honestly

Slay even said as much in the postgame. Hard for a DB to have success when the footing is crap and they have to react to a receiver who knows where he is going.

This one I at least understand how you get from the broadcast angle. Fangio looked like he only trusted Burks and Trotter to come forward. They’re one of the lowest blitzing defenses in the league, so that has a tendency to stick out.

That and it’s also their philosophy. They want to force you into short passes. The whole overarching theme is limiting explosives and forcing teams to execute 10-12 times to get down the field.

The Rams had a lower Success Rate in the 2nd Half yesterday. I think what everyone was observing was that the offense fell apart. Theirs cratered in 2H.

@Chinatown88 Huff had 1 Snap last week, so I wanted to check where he ended up. He now has 1 total Snap over 2 Playoff games. I really wonder if they look for a post-6/1 trade. That’s the only way they could move on.

I guess I should have emphasized easy in a different way. I totally get what you're saying, but yesterday things were wayyyy more wide open than we've seen in a long time. No Dean is a factor in that too, but these DBs were ceding a ton of room to keep WRs in front of them, so they didn't fall and give up the easy 1 play score

On Get Up Dan Orlovsky showed 4 easy throws Hurts didn't make because he simply didn't pull the trigger at all. Each of them ended in a sack or a short scramble. Overall, I think his game is fine. He just needs to make those throws or at the very least throw it away as his inability to make those decisions is causing the offense to be stagnate. We've been talking about this being an issue all year. He is waiting until people are done their route and are facing him with their hands up before letting the ball go, but at that point the rush is in his face.

I suggest putting a VR headset and an electric dog collar on Hurts for the next week. Just play Madden like routes in the headset and if Hurts doesn't throw the ball within 3 seconds he gets shocked.

Classic Howard signing

Ojomo with 19 snaps to Davis with 17. It really felt like a lot more for Ojomo to me. Idk how Davis does it but he disappears for a lad of his size. Best Houdini act ever.

It's been an issue for 4 seasons. He isn't going to change, and that's the problem. What we're seeing with Hurts is the finished product.

Read also: the high water mark. Once he loses even half a step, he will be non functional. When will that be? Will it close this window? Will it be after some of this core ages out, and it doesn't matter (as much)?

What you're saying is we need more Moro

I do think it's important to factor in for Hurts last night that the interior of the line whiffed more than usual last night...like yeah, Hurts as a standard doesn't dump the ball fast enough, but the line was getting beat at times. Would've been tough to avoid some of that no matter how fast you got rid of the ball.

Like on the safety, Jurgens just whiffed on his man - and then Landon couldn't stop it either. Now I question other factors in that disaster too, but safety doesn't happen if those guys do what they're supposed to.

It just feels too simplistic to leave the game upset at only Jalen and Kellen for the offense having issues. Some big drops from AJ and even Smitty didn't help, that's for sure!
