@JojoTheWhale - I assume you would be the best person to answer this - at what point after a failed passing play does it make sense to decline a holding penalty. Obviously a 3rd to 4th down. But is it less likely to convert a 1st and 20, than a 2nd and 10? Obviously the decision would be affected by field position as well.
Anyone else can answer, just curious the likelihood of first down conversions
We in on Trey Amos?Yeah, it’s a sliding scale for all of the reasons you mentioned. For a point of reference, I do happen to know that the break even point for the NFL as a whole on a 1st Down Holding calls is 2nd & 12. So the average team will convert 1st & 20 and 2nd & 12 the same percentage of the time.
Every down. (I'm soft ok on like 3 and under 4s taking shots)Keep running on 2nd down
I was thinking that on average a 1st and 20 had to get converted less than a 2nd and 10. I would interested in 2nd and 20 vs 3rd and 10.Yeah, it’s a sliding scale for all of the reasons you mentioned. So simple....Run and take the FG you f***ing clowns
Run on 2nd
Run on 3rd
Kill time
Kick FG
It’s simple
They're out of fg range in this weather at that spot on the fieldRun and take the FG you f***ing clowns

What happens is that you run into some of the same issues as you do when deciding to kick a FG late up 3. You force the opposition to play more optimally by game situation and it loses you more equity than you might guess. 2nd & 10 makes opposing OCs/QBs more aggressive.I was thinking that on average a 1st and 20 had to get converted less than a 2nd and 10. Sure if our Stud RB gets no yards on 3 runs which is impossibleThey're out of fg range in this weather at that spot on the field
AT THIS POINT?!Hurts is definitely a concern at this point.
I mean BPA and all, but DT and DE is so deep late first early second. Hard for me to look CB. He's a top 60 pick.We in on Trey Amos?
