I’ve been out of the NBA loop. What’s the general consensus on Fox these days? I remember at the draft, traditional people liked him a lot more than the statistical people. Is that still the case?

Does the Mavs’ GM have any ties to the Flyers?

Fletcher was an outside consultant..

Kidding aside..did hear that lifestyle habits and potential health risks were weighed and they considered Embiid a potential comparable situation. I mean I was all for exploring trading Embiid two offseasons ago bc I feared what we are experiencing now but all the typical hens thought it blasphemy when he was playing at MVP level until the knee took probably its last blow...

Overrated by the die hards because he's underrated by the casuals; the casuals have a point though.
Is he that much better than Maxey? I guess but Maxey is 24 and he'll be 28 when he signs the next deal.

I dont love it for the Spurs but I get why they did it.
Worst case scenario he helps to elevate them during Wemby's pre-prime years and by the time that contract is up when he's 32-33 they can reevaluate and potentially reinvest as Wemby's prime begins.
Best case Wemby is so good that all they need is a player of his caliber + seasoning of other young guys to be the difference between making a conference final or a final and a second round exit in Wemby's early to mid 20s.

Fox is the real winner even he loses money. The Kings are foolish enough to where if they only had to pay ~250/5 for him they would sign easily instead their hand is forced because they know in their heart of hearts that Fox isnt worth 325/5.

I still dont love it for the Spurs. No need to rush when during the life of that eventual Fox contract a better player than him will become available and then they might regret having given up that cap.

With Wemby in the fold they can move militantly like the Lakers, Knicks and Heat; guys will want to go there so why not build more organically, stack and develop youth more aligned with their timeline and make the move when youre sure the foundation is laid?

Grimes is streaky just like Martin. He's younger and I can understand how someone would think he's a better fit. Swapping out a defender for a shooter makes sense. Zero problem with this.

I could easily argue the wrong team is sending a 2. Dallas is going all in on defense. I would assume they paid the 2 for the cost certainty.

And saves money under the tax and Grimes is a RFA after the season, Martin has another 3 years of a contract that probably wouldn't age well.

This trade may have the Sixers save enough money to get under the 1st apron.

Which means when Ben Simmons is bought-out by the Nets the Sixers could sign him as a FA :)

I think that’s a crazy nice move by them, tbh.
I'd be interested to see if it comes with the disclaimer of "you have to renew" before I can say fully that it's a crazy nice move.

The Flyers paid for STH's that renewed's April games a couple of seasons ago which was pretty nice. Rarely see that kinda thing but you did have to renew as it was just a credit towards next season.

Makes sense. I wouldn’t have even thought about it. I just would have figured they were trying to right the Luca trade. Haha.
