I saw a youtube vid "Why the Maverick traded Luka to the Lakers" and thought it was joke content, then saw ESPN as the account.

Did Luka hook up with Cuban's 18 year old daughter or something?

They went full Flyers. Never go full Flyers

This is the kind of move that makes me fully believe the NBA is rigged. League wide trash ratings and now a bad Lakers that sold its future to appease LeBron just suddenly gets Luka gifted to them for free? It's pinging the bullshit radar so hard it broke the damn thing.

I GOT SO MANY TEXTS, I GOT OUT OF BED TO CHECK. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Given Stein's reporting that there was no trade request, this is the worst NBA trade of my lifetime. Maybe in any sport? Maybe the worst move of any kind?
Not only that, on ESPN they reported that Dallas didn’t even shop Luka to the rest of the league. They apparently just decided that they absolutely, positively, HAD to have Anthony Davis. And damn if they didn’t get their man. They’re like the Mounties.

Oh good. The rigged league idiots are spreading to other threads. The most loser energy possible.

Anyway, here's what really matters here. The Thunder own a Dallas 2028 pick swap. Davis and Kyrie will be 35 and 36.

It really is full Flyers. Windhorst flat out said they decided they weren't going forward with Luka and that was the end of the discussion. They set out to trade him and were doing it no matter what.
I really don't think the Flyers have ever made a trade that was really even close to this bad. I'm having a hard time thinking of any trade that was as bat-shit crazy as this.

This trade is so out there that four of the teams in my avatar are playing today and I barely even care.

He immediately came to my mind after that trade. I know he would've sent about 10 picks for Luka. No way the Lakers talked to every team right?

The reporting is that they specifically set out to acquire AD, yep. They surely could have gotten a chest of assets from almost any team -- OKC, Houston, San Antonio, whatever.

This is the best player and the best asset to be traded in the modern history of the NBA. Well, ok, technically LeBron was traded to Miami. But we know that's not what happened.

Gretzky trade to LA is the only thing comparable perhaps.
And even then many knew Edmonton was cash poor at the time so there was at least justification.

Owners are rich fools but it takes a reallllly rich fool to pay one guy 350~400/5.
Thats higher value than Ohtani/Soto. With no deferrals.

I understand the specific idiot(s) that bought the team and would need to be convinced here, but you can even sign Luka to that contract and then still trade him. You might be narrowing your field a bit, this isn't Beal or Butler where you're kicking his value down.

I don’t think people are quite grasping the full significance of this. While I don’t think it makes the Lakers actual favorites for anything, it does significantly boost the chances of Bronny getting a ring.
