Besides Goulbourne, the Flyers really haven't flirted with the ECHL when it comes to their legit prospects.
You're also forgetting that most ECHLers played junior and by all indications would be better players in their 20s than when they were teenagers. Hell, the Canadian World Junior team plays tune up games against a Canadian University all star team (mostly made up of former junior players now in their 20s) and lose.Because as we know, if you're stronger than your opponent, you are immediately better at hockey.
Regardless of if a Junior players could win vs almost the bottom of the barrel "pro" players, I'd still be incredibly surprised if Hart wasted any time in the ECHL

But yes, I agree that I can't see Hart in the ECHL. But then again, Jonathan Quick spent time in the ECHL
Neuvirth at $2.5m > Mrazek at $4.15m. I don’t care how often Neuvirth gets hurt, he’s still the better goalie to have for one year.

Hypothetically, they could not qualify him then sign him as a UFA at a cap hit similar to Neuvirths.
But that's why I used the Parson example.
2nd rd pick.

Most did not think he would struggle in the ECHL and AHL this year.
This is true. But I hope they don't.
Do we lose our other 3rd in thus scenario or is it only if we qualify him?
Yeah we would lose it.
Im still on the fence. Gonna hold off on my opinion of Mrazek until the season is over.
I can see being on the fence about him. If I had the choice between two goalies with the same save %, one who was steady but didn't make circus saves and one like Petr who does make great saves but allows fat rebounds or let's in leaky ones I want the steady guy every time. Mentally it is so much easier to play in front of somebody steady if unspectacular.
That being said Mrazek oozes raw talent, but he is like a guy that can throw 98mph but doesn't know how to pitch. He just does things that boggles my mind and makes me nervous.
I can see that. At the same time, I watched us give up on another athletically gifted but unrefined, albeit younger, goalie in Bobrovsky only to regret it later.
What if Dillabaugh can coach out his bad habits, even it were to take half of a full season? That could end up being worth it. We dont exactly have a clear picture in mind when it comes to our goaltending. We dont know if and when one of the prospects will be ready. Elliott/Neuvirth are only under contract for 1 more season and both have flaws and are older. Neither are Stanley Cup calibre goalies. Could Mrazek potentially be if coached up? Im not sure.
Yeah I see your point. But from all the talk that came out of Detroit it sounds like isn't very interested in changing his ways. If he was younger I could get on board but I just don't think he is going to pan out to much.
Not officially. He was the WHL Western Conference Goalie of the Year. He was also chosen as the WHL Western Conference Player of the Year.Hart won the WHL Goalie of the year again.
No, probably not.Oh my God, do you think we'll be okay?!
Whoops...misunderstood that tweet. I'm sure he will, but mistake noted. Not officially. He was the WHL Western Conference Goalie of the Year. He was also chosen as the WHL Western Conference Player of the Year.
A lot of our prospects teams finished top 10...
That is a great looking jersey!OH check out this beaut:
