Jukurit winger Ondrej Kovarcik is apparently going to be out for a while, so this is a chance for Tuomaala to get in lineup. It's not like he has really tough competition either. Markus Oden is fast, but doesn't do many useful things. Miikka Pitkänen has been pretty useless. If Tuomaala can't make impact in the next month or so for Jukurit, then it's all on him.

Not the best use of a draft pick. I guess it’ll be a question for all scouts to ask: What kind of player are you? What is your off-season training regimen? Are you currently under police investigation? Are you a rapist?

Tuomaala playing today against Sport. Miikka Pitkänen is injured too so that's 2 wingers injured. Now is Tuomaala's chance!

It’s too much work for Chuckles and Co. to do any kind of due diligence like that. “It’s too hard/difficult.”

Or he dropped b/c of rumors, but due to the nature of legal proceedings, they couldn't confirm anything before the draft (much like determining who is involved in that juniors incident), so they took a Flyer with a late 7th rd pick. If he's acquited or charges are dropped, they got a bargain, otherwise, well, it's a 7th rd pick.
 
Could be he was a minor when charged so not public knowledge. No idea of laws overseas. However there had to be rumours floating around. No excuse, scout should be fired that recommended Sulku. It’s the scouts job to know these things and advise Chuck.

No but if the guy was charged prior to the draft not a team going to touch him in todays world. Look what Arizona went through with that kid. Different situation but the same in the world of public opinion.

For as incompetent as this management team is if there were charges or what not they would have known as they do expansive back ground checks. Now maybe they ignored it? I can buy that.

Not that it matters but Santeri Salku was an early 7th round pick at 197th overall.

The other 7th round pick in 2022 Alexis Gendron was the late 7th round pick at 220th overall.

Both throw away picks IMO along with face-puncher Hunter McDonald.

Purely a size pick. He is bad skater even for USHL standards. Not the greatest hockey sense. Though see what happens i the next 4 years in college.

People are expecting something positive to play out from that pick? If anyone has even watched at least a game or two of his and not come away with the idea that he won’t ever sniff the NHL…I have no idea what you’re watching/seeing. He is, genuinely, terrible. Oooh he has a big shot! He can’t do anything else with the puck and his shot accuracy is nonexistent. Hockey sense is below par too. This was a holmgren era pick lol. As in, pick big man & who cares if he can actually play kind of pick.
